THE GOLDEN AGE FOR WEEK OF FEB. 5, 1914
We went out to a land sale yesterday
and they managed to gather in sev
eral thousand dollars. But one man
may be able to save twenty-hundred
dollars of his, as they were in certi
ficates of deposit.
It seems as if Satan is always on
the ground to get in his work. Oh,
won’t it be a glorious day when our
Lord and Master comes again, and
chains him up and casts him into
the pit. If lam living what a day
of rejoicing that will be to me. To
know that Satan has no more power.
Well, I hope you and the Household
family are all doing well. Love to
each one. Will try to give you a
•sketch every now and then.
I wrote to Fienetta since I have
been down here but have not heard
from her. Please write to me Finetta
as I do not see The Golden Age down
here.
DO DREAMS COME TRUE?
Dear Little Mother and Household:
Is there any significance in dreams?
This is perhaps to many an unan
swered question. I answered prompt
ly all such questions forty years ago.
But so many wonders have come to
light, in God’s wonderous plans, I
have learned so much of His great
love, and care of us, that I rather let
much remain in mystery, and only
trust, and believe, and love Him on,
for surely the great mystery is His
love and care and that I am the crea
ture of His tenderest compassion that
He guides my way in safety.
This past Christmas was a very
quiet one; spent in the country, with
a quiet old bachelor, whose only care
seemed to be his chickens, his cows,
and butter making. The sun did
not shine for us, and the rain poured,
so I retired early. My thoughts were
net gloomy. I do not usually give
place to the gloomy side of life. First,
I was dreaming of a pleasant trip
our pastor and I were making, and
then came ‘‘My dream.”
I was again in the old country home,
where I had brought my pretty young
bride just thirty-eight years ago (the
old home is in ruins now), I was out
under the spreading branches of a
large white oak;, there were others
there, in whom I was especially inter
ested, but could not see them, or
know who they were, but it seemed
we were looking for some mutual spe
cial interests. Then the object of our
interest came in the mysterious form
of a beautiful bird, and circled round
the tree, and lit in its branches. Then
as I looked it flew away, to where
the others were. It went from place
to place upon its tired and restless lit
tle wings, and found no place to rest.
With all the interest and sympathy of
my heart I desired to take the rest
less little creature, and give it a
home, a resting place, and at last it
came and lit among the lower
branches.
