THE GOLDEN AGE FOR WEEK OF OCTOBER 1, 1914
“AS OFT AS YE DID IT UNTO ONE
OF THE LEAST OF THESE.”
My Dear Household Mother:
Are you surprised that I am still
living? Well, all who know me
are, and my doctors all wonder how
lam alive. I get worse all the
time. Heart and lungs very bad. Just
now I am in bed very ill.
Dear mother left us August Ist and
I’ve been in bed ever since, for days
they thought I too must go. Oh! I
am so lonely and miss dear mother
so much. Yet I’d not call her back
if I could. You know she’d been
sick twenty-two years. She was so
very ill for three weeks and suf
fered awfully. Yet was so cheerful
and patient, she was so good. Such
a dear good Christian that all loved
her. She talked so sweetly and her
last words to me, when I went in
to kiss her “good by,” was, “Don’t
you worry.” She knew all until
about twenty minutes before going,
then went looking and reaching up,
a sweet smile on her face which lin
gered there after she left us. I
am trying so hard to be brave, for
I know I am going to her soon.
With my other troubles I now have
pleurisy and an abscess in right side.
How awful I suffer and I can’t write.
Please tell the readers of Golden Age
I am still living and ask them to
write to me, and send me historical
post cards or a good book. (No mag
azines), I must have something inter
esting enough to kill my pain, and
yes, I would also like to have a box
of chocolate candy. Now those of
you who expressed a wish to help
me last winter, know what I want
and I surely need something now to
help me forget and bear my trou
bles. But God is always with me,
or I could not bear it all, for I am
so lonely. lam still trying to get

I need the cash commission I get

to pass my suffering time until God

BURTON A. HALL AT HOME.
Dear Golden Age:
“Be it ever so humble there is no
place like home.”
Yes, after months of hard evan
gelistic work on the Pacific coast, I
find myself headed toward Dunlap
and Harriman, Tenn., where I am to
hold meetings with people I have
labored with before.
Stopped off here at the old home
a week ago to visit my mother and
old friends, and I find myself this
morning in the midst of my fourth
revival here in the old home church.
Pastor Pearce had begun the meet
ing before I arrived. Since then
I am preaching twice a day to the
hundreds that gather in the large
tabernacle. Scores are being saved.
What a blessed privilege it is to
preach to, and mingle with, dear old
friends and school mates among
whom I lived for fourteen years.
ONE BOX CURES THREE.
Jessie W. Scott, Milledgeville, Ga., writes:
—“I sufEered with an eruption for years
and one box of Tetterine cured me and
two of my friends. It is worth its weight
in gold.” Tetterine quickly relieves skin
diseases, including Eczema, Tetter, Ring
worm, Acne, Blackheads, also best remedy
known for itching piles. 50c at druggists
or by mail from Shuptrine Co., Savannah,

Editor’s Note —We regret that this
letter was delayed on the road and
misplaced. We welcome Evangelist
Hall back from his restored health
and his successful work on the Pa

success in some great meetings in
this section of his native Southland.
THE HELPING HAND
(Continued from Page 5.)
she could carry; the need of the
aged, trembling under their'load with
all that they could carry; and the
need of the child, more than it could
carry; and no hand outstretched to
help any of them .
When I sat and looked at that
statue, I said, I would to God I were
an artist and I could make one to
put in its place. I would reproduce
these figures, and then out in front
I would have the church of Jesus
Christ with the outstretched hand to
help.
We will keep on talking about
lost members until we get to the
place where we give ourselves to
the method of the Master. What
was His method? It was to take
suchby the hand and life them up.
Then again, we see here an indi
cation of the method that should
be adopted in all our efforts to re
lieve human need, of whatever kind.
Jesus did two things with the lad.
We healed him; no one else could
do that; and He helped him to his
feet after he was healed. Oh, what
a suggestion that is to us I The
world needs something more than
what we call salvation.
Yonder is a girl in a brothel. We
go to her and preach salvation to
her. She believes, and she is saved.
What is her condition in that brothel,
WATCH YOUR HEART IF YOU
WISH HEALTH.
Weak hearts are more common
fan weak stomachs, lungs, eyes,
backs, or kidneys. Every time your
heart misses a beat your life is being
: h rtened. Heart disease, taken in
its early stages, is quite easy to re
lieve; but every day that treatemnt is
delayed the relief becomes more
difficult.
Dr. Miles’ Heart Remedy taken in
conjunction with the Nervine, or *
alone has proven very efficient in re
lieving heart disorders.
The Rev. Geo. W. Kiracofe, of Kel
’er, Va., in this connection stated as
follows:
“It has been many years since I was
cured of heart trouble by Dr. Miles’
Heart Remedy and 'Nervine. I am
just as sound as a dollar in that
organ today. Before I took these
remedies my breathing had been short
and at times difficult; there were
sharp pains about my heart, accom
panied by fluttering which would
make me feel faint and languid. The
least excitement or worry would un
nerve me. The trouble grew steadily
worse. Doctors’ prescriptions did me
no good. But since using Dr. Miles’
Remedies all symptoms were removed
and have never returned since.”
If you suspect that you have heart
trouble avoid all dangerous delays.
It costs you nothing to try these
remedies if you are not benefited. All
you have to do is to return the empty
bottle to the druggist and he will re
fund your money.

o Stop Itself v
A cough is really one of our best
friends. It warns us that there is in
flammation or obstruction in a danger
ous place. Therefore, when you get a
bad cough don’t proceed to dose yourself
with a lot of drugs that merely “stop”
the cough temporarily by deadening tne
throat nerves. Treat the cause —heal the
inflamed membranes. Here is a home
made remedy that gets right at the cause
and will make an obstinate cough vanish
more quickly than you ever thought pos
sible.
Put ounces of Pinex (50 cents
worth) in a pint bottle and fill the bottle
with plain granulated sugar syrup. This
gives vou a full pint of the most pleasant
and effective cough remedy you ever used,
at a cost of only 54 cents. No bother to
prepare. Full directions with Pinex.
It heals the inflamed membranes so
gently and promptly that you wonder
how it does it. Also loosens a dry, hoarse
or tight cough and stops the formation of
phlegm in the throat and bronchial tubes,
thus ending the persistent loose cough.
Pinex is a highly concentrated com
pound of Norway pine extract, rich in
guaiacol, and is famous the world over
for its healing effect on the membranes.
To avoid disappointment, ask your
druggist for “2% ounces of Pinex,” and
don’t accept anything else. A guarantee
of absolute satisfaction, or money prompt
ly refunded, goes with this preparation.
