Welcome, Barrow Journal, to Random Rants in Rhyme My name is Dr. CB Skelton, a long retired family physician. Practicing medicine for forty-two years gained me respect of both patients and peers. During my practice, I helped quite a lot of babies around Barrow out of a tight spot. (That is to say, I helped bring success to quite a few mothers in the birth process.) But if, after reading, you scratch your head and say, “What does Doc mean by his writing today?” Then this writer has failed and that is not good, for my purpose in writing is to be understood. Random Rants is the only weekly column that has existed for more than twenty years and always consisted of a poem that is written in roughly metered rhyme. It is the most unusual column of this time. So welcome, Barrow Journal, to a column whose comments are enjoyed by Facebook friends on all the continents. As we pool our resources in a new relationship, may all parties benefit from our partnership. © 2016, cbs
