The Winder Police Department respond ed to the following recent incidents: •complaint at Barrow Regional Medical Center on N. Broad Street; a patient that had been released from the hospital was located sleeping in a room. The male told officers he did not have anyone to take him home and had tried to stay in the woods next to the hospital but there were too many bugs. The male was in pos session of alcohol and was charged with public drunkenness. •traffic stop for a headlight violation on N. Broad Street; a passenger in the vehicle was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant charge. •traffic stop for driving on a suspend ed license on Atlanta Hwy.; the driver was arrested for driving on a suspend ed license, an outstanding warrant and possession of a schedule II controlled substance. The passenger in the vehicle was taken into custody and charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance. •suspicious person call on E. New Street; a male was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant charge and issued a citation for entry upon property for being on complainant’s property after being told not to return. •hit and run on W. Athens Street; com plainant reported seeing damage to her vehicle after coming out of Save-A-Lot. •domestic disturbance on Second Street; a female reported her spouse became upset with her after she refused sexual relations with him because he was intox icated. He struck her in the face with a closed fist and punched a hole in the wall. The male was arrested and charged with battery/family violence and criminal tres pass/family violence. •suspicious person on Georgia Avenue; complainant reported a female that she did not know made her way into her res idence and demanded $20. When asked to leave, the suspect began hitting the resident and left the residence. •missing person report on Jasmine Drive; a female reported not being able to locate her husband after they had a verbal argument. •counterfeit money on S. Center Street; a manager at Sonic reported a customer paying with a counterfeit $10 bill. •domestic dispute on Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive; a couple had a disturbance over the male not leaving the premis es when asked to and not allowing the female to leave with her children. The male was charged with criminal trespass/ family violence and simple battery/family violence. •traffic stop for an expired registration on Horton Street; the driver was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant charge. •theft report on S. Broad Street; a cus tomer at Ruby Tuesdays left his wallet on the table and when he returned to get it, he reported that money was missing from the wallet. •traffic stop for no insurance on Wood Avenue; the driver was issued a citation and the vehicle was towed. A passenger in the vehicle was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant charge. •traffic stop for no insurance on N. Broad Street; the driver was issued a cita tion and the vehicle was towed. •damage to property on W. May Street; a driver had backed into a store sign. •counterfeit money reported taken at Parts Plus on W. Athens Street. •traffic stop for stopping on the railroad tracks on N. Williams Street; the driver was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant charge and cited for stopping on the railroad tracks. •shoplifting at Dollar General on Sec ond Street; a female was charged with shoplifting items valued at $63. After a search of her purse, she was also charged with possession of meth amphetamine, possession of Alprzaolam, possession of Diazepam and possession of drug-related objects. •hit and run on Athens Street; a driver reported a tanker truck backed up, striking her vehicle and did not stop. •shoplifting at Dollar General on Ath ens Street; a female was charged with shoplifting clothing and with aggravated assault for striking an employee with her vehicle as she left. •theft at Winder Healthcare on E. May Street; a resident reported cash being missing from his night stand. •shoplifting at Family Dollar on N. Broad Street; a female was detained and charged with taking items valued at $17. •threat on Apperson Drive; a male reported another male told him to stay away from his ex-wife or he would “put him 6 feet under”. •stolen vehicle report on Georgia Ave nue. •theft on Capital Avenue; four pair of tennis shoes were reported stolen. •theft by taking on E. May Street; the owner of a convenience store reported an employee was taking lottery tickets. After observing the theft on video, the employ ee was arrested. •traffic stop on N. Broad Street for an expired registration; the driver was cited for no insurance, suspended registration and no driver’s license on person and the vehicle was towed. •theft on Monroe Hwy.; wheels and tools were reported stolen from Dahlia Motors. •damage to property on Shenandoah Lane; complainant reported someone had “egged” her vehicle. •damage to a vehicle on N. Broad Street; a driver reported damage to their vehicle while parked in the Ingles parking lot. •warrant arrest on S. Broad Street, •suspicious person on N. Broad Street; a male was placed under arrest for public intoxication for disrupting normal busi ness at Family Dollar. •criminal trespass on Lily Drive; a prop erty owner reported a previous tenant kept returning to the property after it was foreclosed on. •shoplifting at O’Reilly Auto Parts on W. May Street; an employee of the busi ness was reported for taking items valued at approximately $140 and later returning them to the store for credit. •theft on Jamie Court; complainant reported numerous firearms were missing from the residence. •lost property on N. Broad Street; a female reported a missing wallet. •road rage on N. Broad Street; com plainants reported a male driver throwing something at their car and making a threat referencing a gun as they traveled on N. Broad Street. The accused driver was located and taken into custody. •shoplifting at Family Dollar on N. Broad Street; a female was charged for taking items that were concealed on her body. •damage to a mailbox on Sims Road, •warrant arrest on N. Broad Street, •shoplifting at Dollar General on Ath ens Street; an older black male left the store concealing unspecified merchandise. •theft on E. May Street; six residents on Winder Health Care reported money missing from their rooms. Video revealed a suspect from a company that does lab work for the center as being a suspect. The lab worker was terminated from the company and officers are attempting to interview that subject.
