Dorothy Bom
TURNERVILLE, GA
- Dorothy Davis Bom, 98,
went home to be with the
Lord on Wednesday, August
10, 2016, following an
extended illness.
Dorothy was born on
May 17, 1918, in Lakemont,
Ga., the daughter of the
late Arnold and Zoie Smith
Davis. She was preceded
in death by her husband,
Charles Louis Bom, Sr.; son,
Charles Louis Born, Jr.; two
brothers; and two sisters.
Mrs. Born attended Lake
mont Consolidated High
School graduating with First
Honors. After graduating
from Young Harris College,
she taught school in Rabun
County for two years. She
then devoted herself to being
a wife, mother, grandmother,
and up to the point of being a
great-great-grandmother.
Mrs. Born was a mem
ber and attended Mt. Zion
Baptist Church in Turner-
ville. She was involved in
all church-related organi
zations and especially the
Women's Missionary Union.
She served as the Associa-
tional WMU President for
two years and as President
of Turnerville Homemakers
for 14 years.
Survivors include daugh
ter and son-in-law: Susan
Born Smith and Frederick,
Jefferson; son: John Davis
Born, Knoxville, Tenn.; sis
ter: Jean Bragg, Marietta; six
grandchildren; nine great
grandchildren; and five
great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were
held Saturday, August 13,
at Whitfield Funeral Home,
North Chapel, with the
Rev. Larry Brown officiat
ing. Interment was in Yonah
Memorial Gardens.

Center in Royston.
She was bom in Norfolk,
Va., the daughter of the late
Edward Boyle Darden, Sr.
and Maude Baker Darden.
She was a school teacher,
having worked in the Lee
County School System and
was a member of the Church
of the Good Shepherd in
Cashiers, N.C. Mrs. Brown
was preceded in death by
her husband, Lewis God
frey Brown; and a brother,
Edward B. Darden, Jr.
Survivors include her
daughter, Elizabeth Bun
nell, Danielsville; son and
daughter-in-law, Robert L.
and Adriana Brown, Miami,
Fla.; grandsons, Steven L.
Heckenberg and his wife
Judith, and Samuel A. Sali-
zar; four great-grandchil
dren; and eight great-great-
grandchildren.

Cheek. Ola Mae was an

Church, where she kept the
nursery for 30 plus years.
She always thought of all

dren as her
own. Mrs.

Greemon Dalton, 88, passed
away Sunday, August 14,
2016, at Friendship Nursing
Home.
She was the daughter of
the late Arthur Loyd and
Alice Smith Greemon. Mrs.
Dalton was born November
17, 1927, in Easley, S.C.,
having lived in Banks and
Stephens County most of her
life. She was retired from
WABCO with 33 years of
service and was a member
of Mountain View Baptist
Church. She was preceded
in death by her husband,
TomE Bradford Dalton; son,
Roger Dale Dalton; brother,
Fred Greemon; and a sister,
Betty Templeton.
Survivors include a son,
Winferd Lynn Dalton, Toc-
coa; two grandchildren,
Jacob Dalton and Betsy
Dalton; brother, Ricky
Greemon, Baldwin; and
sister, Imogene Seelow,
Bremerton, Wash.

A native of Crawford, Ga.,
he was a retired supervi
sor from General Motors,
attended Union Christian
Church, and
served in the
United States
Army during
World War II
in the European Theater. Mr.
Evans was preceded in death
by his parents, Wiley Prince
and Mamie Austin Evans;
and step-grandson, Wade
Wages.
Survivors include his wife
of 63 years, Marian Maxey

Evans, Moultrie; grandchild,
David Evans, Titusville,

nation. He was preceded in
death by his first wife, Betty
Ballard Hanley of Knox

Bobby Hanley; and sisters,
Cornelia Poe, Ruby Evans
and Reba Minish.
Survivors include his wife,

7, 1948, he
was the son

James Bush

Ausburn Lawrence. Mr.
Lawrence was a member
and former pastor of New
Birth Baptist Church. He
was a self-employed carpen
ter, who actually constructed
New Birth Baptist Church
and many other structures
over the years. He enjoyed
cooking, gardening and
woodworking in his spare
time. He also was employed
as a technician with LP Gas
Service for many years and
was a United States Army
veteran. Mr. Lawrence
was preceded in death by
a granddaughter, Hannah
Lawrence; sister, Ruby Aus
burn Cochran; and broth
ers, James, Johnny, Howard
“Grey”, Pete and Wayne
Lawrence, and Rudolph
Ausburn.
Survivors include his wife
of 47 years, Lynn Lawrence,
Hollingsworth Communi

Donald Veater
Donald Keith Veater died
early Saturday, August 13,
2016, at the age of 48.
Donald was born in Nor
man, Okla., on June 18,
1968. He graduated from
the University of Georgia
in 1994 with a Bachelor of
Science in Education. He
also received a Master of
Education from UGA in
1998. Donald was honored
to be a torchbearer for the
1996 Summer Paralympics.
A former resident of Stone
Mountain, he was residing
in Comer at the time of his
death. Donald was preceded
in death by his mother, Bet-
tye laMar Speaks Veater; and
father, Joel Gaston Veater.
Survivors include a sis
ter, Lee Beth Burge (Chet);
three nieces: Emma, Eliza
beth, and Ella Burge; and
one nephew, Manuel Burge.
For the last 12 years of his
life, Donald received loving
care from Kristy Mahaffey,
Amanda Parten, and Brenda
Parten, and enjoyed being
part of their large and enter
taining family.
The funeral service will
be held Thursday, August
18, at 11 a.m., at Lord and
Stephens Madison Chapel in
Danielsville.Visitation will
be one hour prior to the
service.
