Games through Sept. 16
In the two previous games for WBHS, both of which were
wins, the number of mental miscues was far less.
“We may have lost focus through the course of the layoff,’’
said Webb, whose
team was coming
off a bye week.
“We have to learn
from that for our
next open week.”
Javonne
Hughes finished
Friday’s game
with 94 yards on
13 carries and the
lone touchdown
for the Bulldoggs. Deon Williams had three catches for 55
yards. Hughes and Casey Thurmond both had two receptions.
Brock Landis threw for 113 yards but Loganville managed
three interceptions.
Winder-Barrow will remain at home this Friday when it
hosts a rebuilding North Oconee High School team.
The Titans have been a perennial playoff program in recent
years but are 0-4 this season.
“The deal with North Oconee is they are young and still
trying to figure some things out,” Webb said. “They have
several sophomores on the field. You can tell they have some
good, young players who are getting better every week. They
have really improved from their scrimmage to their most
recent game.”
A key defensively for WBHS will be to stop Jermaine
Browner, whom Webb describes as "lightning in a bottle.”
“He reminds me a lot of Javonne,” Webb said. “He returns
kickoffs and punts for them. They have scored seven touch
downs this season and he has scored five of them. He’s their
play-maker. We have to contain him.”
The Bulldogg offensive line also has a challenge in front of
it as the Titans used multiple looks defensively.
