PAGE 8A BARROW NEWS-JOURNAL WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 12, 2016 Winder Police Department Incidents Criminal damage to property reported to Winder PD The Winder Police Department recently responded to the following incidents: •no insurance at Jet Mar ket on South Broad Street, where a traffic stop was conducted on the driver of a 2012 Dodge Avenger. •criminal damage to property on Capitol Ave nue, where a woman reported her 2008 Honda Accord had been keyed by another female. •abandoned vehicle at a Duke Street residence, where a 1984 Oldsmobile Cutlass was located. •battery - Family Vio lence Act (FVA), cruelty to children and false impris onment at a Hosch Circle residence, where a domes tic dispute was reported between a woman and her boyfriend. •hit and run; duty of the driver to stop at or return to the scene of an accident on Shenandoah Circle, where a female reported her parked 2000 Honda Accord had been struck by an SUV that did not stop. •fraud at a Baskins Circle residence, where a female reported being scammed out of $3,000 by someone attempting to sell a 2008 Cadillac CTS on Craigslist. •outstanding warrant service at Brown Family Health Center on Savannah Street, where a suspicious person was reported. •theft at a Mobile Drive residence, where a woman reported her English bull dog missing from a sitter’s residence at this location. The complainant stat ed she suspected the sitter might have sold the dog. •burglary at a Fairview Court residence, where the residents reported they returned home to find their door kicked in and $100 missing from a drawer in the back bedroom. •forgery at Kangaroo on East May Street, where a man reported a woman attempted to make a pur chase with a counterfeit $20 bill. •lost/found proper ty reported to the Wind er Police Department on Midland Avenue, where a wallet that was found at the underpass on Center Street was turned in to the police department. •theft by taking at a McElroy Street residence, where a man reported the theft of the license plate off his trailer that was backed under a portable carport in his driveway. •receipt, possession or transfer of a firearm by a convicted felon or felony first offender at a Georgia Avenue residence, where a 9-1-1 hang up was report ed. •possession of metham- phetamine, driving while unlicensed and possession of marijuana on North Broad Street, where a traf fic stop was initiated on the driver of a 2000 Honda Accord. •criminal trespass at a Turtle Creek Drive res idence. where a woman reported her vehicle and her neighbor’s vehicle had been “keyed.” •hit and run; duty of the driver to stop at or return to the scene of an accident at Dollar Tree on North Broad Street, where a woman reported damage to the driver’s side rear of her 2016 Toyota Highlander while it was parked in front of the store. •theft by shoplifting at Rite-Aid, East May Street, where the manag er reported a “regular cus tomer” informed her they witnessed a male stealing unknown merchandise from the store on “what they believed to be aisle six.” •theft by conversion at a Mulberry Road residence. •outstanding warrant arrest at the Winder Police Department on East Mid land Avenue. •lost/found proper ty reported to the Winder Police Department, East Midland Avenue. A man reported he test drove a vehicle and took his driver’s license out of his wallet. He said at some point he must have dropped his license because he could not find it. •outstanding warrant arrest at the Gwinnett County Jail, University Parkway, Lawrenceville. •outstanding arrest war rant and giving a false name, address or birthdate to a law enforcement offi cer at a North Broad Street location, where a 1999 Ford Taurus was stopped because the driver ran a red light. •outstanding arrest war rant at a Georgia Avenue location, where a man was walking southbound in the middle of the roadway. •willful obstruction of law enforcement officers, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness at a Griffith Street residence, where a domestic dispute involving a woman and her “intoxicated” husband who “needed to be calmed down.” •criminal trespass at a West Midland Avenue res idence, where a domes tic dispute was reported between a father and son. •public drunkenness at a Langford Street loca tion, where a man “who appeared to be intoxicated and stumbling in the road way” was located. •fraud at Phillips 66, North Broad Street, where a man reported he had received a $5 bill from a nearby car wash and when he attempted to make a pur chase at the Phillips 66 he was told by the clerk the bill “seemed fake.” •theft by taking - motor vehicle at Hillcrest Apart ments on Gainesville High way, where a man reported his 2008 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle missing “from its normal parking area.” •private property acci dent at the Barrow YMCA on Brad Akins Drive, where a woman reported she returned to her vehicle and found a receipt with a name and phone number from a person stating they had struck her vehicle. •speeding and reckless driving on Hal Jackson Road, where the driver of a 2001 Honda Civic was stopped for traveling 77 mph in a 35-mph speed zone. •death investigation at a Olevia Street residence, where an 80-year-old female was unresponsive. •warrant service at the Winder Police Department. I have resided in Barrow County since 1962, when I married my wife Jane. I served four years in the U.S.A.F., from 1966-1970. I have always had an interest in Barrow County and its development. I served on the first Planning Commission in our county in 1978. Since that time, I have served two additional terms on the Barrow County Planning Commission.
