AHS theatre department to
present ‘The Amish Project’
Rehearsals are underway for Apalachee
Theater's one-act play, “The Amish Proj
ect.”
This is the first production in Apalachee
Theatre’s 2016-2017 season, which con
tinues in January with a neo-futurist pro
duction of “Too Much Light Makes the
Baby Go Blind.”
That will be followed by the depart
ment's spring musical “Hairspray.” and
the season will end with a production for
young audiences, an original script based
on the children’s story “Anastasia.”
“The Amish Project” in its entirety will
be performed on Apalachee’s own stage
three times; Saturday at 7:30 p.m., and
Sunday at 3 p.m. and Monday at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets are available in advance for $8
and will be sold at the door for $10.
Tickets can be purchased in the AHS
front office, through the cast and crew, or
by emailing the director, Susan Pierce, at
susan.pierce@barrow.kl2.ga.us.
Season passes, which are good for any
combination of five shows, are available
to those who wish to enjoy the Apalachee
Theater’s 2016-2017 season to its fullest.
The cast competed in the region one-act
competition last week at Gainesville High
School with this piece about the 2006
shooting in a one-room Amish school
house.
The tragedy in Lancaster, Pa. left six
young girls ages 6-13 dead and five wound
ed, but the Amish community didn't let the
incident instill fear.
Instead, they shocked the English (non-
Amish) community and press with their
attitudes and actions of unconditional for
giveness and grace.
This beautiful production is about
responding with compassion, and will
include the talent of Brittany Robinson,
Alyssa Bailey, Yanaisa Pena, Eric How-
ington. Ajanlei Lumpkin, Noah Eldredge,
Giovanni White and Hannah Jones and is
directed by Susan Pierce.
Please be advised that there is strong
language and sensitive and mature subject
matter in this play and children under
the age of 14 or anyone offended by this
should not attend.
