The Mayor and Council of the
City of Winder, at a meeting on
October 18 voted favorably for
the adoption of a new ordinance
relative to changes in parking
regulations for the city.
Action taken by the Council
regarding this new ordinance,
in effect, temporarily suspends
the use of parking meters with
in die city. The meter heads
in all areas where meters are
presently in use will be cover
ed, The ordinance passed last
week will discontinue the re
quirement of individual* plac
ing coins in the meters for two
hour parking privileges. Citi
zens and others parked in the
downtown area on business, for
shopping, or for other purposes,
will be permitted to park free
for a two hour period,
A Parking Committee, com
posed of interested citizens de-
cheated to the solution of the
traffic and parking problems

Robbie Pirkle, daughter of
Mr and Mrs, Thad Pirkle of
Hoschton, was one of eleven

livestock In the Athens Agricul
tural Fair, October 19. Miss
Pirkle showed the Grand Cham
pion Angus heifer and Grand
Champion Angus steer, both
bred on her parents farm. She
also showed hor steer In the
Jackson County J - H group
of five steers which finished
4th In the county groups event
In addition to this, Robbie pla
ced 5th In fitting and showing,

First Jadon’s Run planned Saturday
Winder Health Care opens
Christmas store again
The first Jadon’s Run 5K/Fun Run
will be held Saturday at the Church at
Winder.
Jadon’s Run will be part of the Church
at Winder’s Family Fall Day event.
Jadon’s Run was created in memory
of the Church at Winder’s pastor Don
nie Pennington’s grandson who passed
away due to complications from the
Croup. All proceeds from the race will
benefit the Church at Winder Children’s
Ministry.
Registration for the 5K is: T-shirt
option: $25 to race day; no T-shirt
option: $20 to race day.The pre-regis
tration only family rate - limit four peo
ple - is $60, and this includes T-shirts.
Each family member must fill out a
registration form.
The Fun Run fee is $15, any age.
T-shirts are guaranteed to all pre-reg-
istered participants and as supply last
on race day.

It’s time for the Winder Health Care
(WHC) Christmas Store again this year.
Every year the residents look forward to
shopping at WHC for free, for their loved
ones and themselves.
Winder Health Care is asking for new
or like new items/donations for both men
and women.
Examples of donations are: room dec
orations, clothing, shampoo, body wash,
lotion, shaving cream, gift sets of a kind,
baseball/stocking caps, socks/gripper
socks, jewelry, perfumes/cologne, etc.
The ideas are endless.
The deadline to receive the donated
items is Dec. 12.
Volunteers are needed on this day to
help the residents shop.

American Legion Post 163 to host Halloween dance
The American Legion Post 163 in Statham will host a Halloween contest and dance
on Saturday. Prizes will be given for best and worst costume. The dance begins at 8
p.m. and is $10 per peson. The Hwy. 211 band will perform.
