Statham man arrested for
making counterfeit money

A Statham man was
arrested Oct. 25 for mak
ing counterfeit money as
the result of an ongoing
investigation by the Wind
er Police Department.
Michael James Crowe,
33, was arrested after a
search of his home yield
ed counterfeit currency. 17
mobile devices, six digital
memory cards, two com
puters, three jet ink print
ers/scanners. other materi
als used to generate coun
terfeit money and drug-re
lated objects, according to
a news release.
Crowe was seen driving
and stopped by police on
Argonne Road prior to ser
vice of the search warrant
at his home, and during a
search of his car, addition
al counterfeit money was
found.
In total, police seized
approximately $1,800 in
counterfeit bills.
Crowe has been charged
with two counts of sec
ond-degree forgery, pos
session of tools used in the
commission of a crime and
possession of drug-related
objects.
Police have responded to
numerous reports of coun
terfeit money being passed
in local businesses over
the past several months,
including as many as three
cases per day, the release
said.
The department recent
ly began a special inves
tigation aimed at locating
CROWE
and arresting individuals
involved in the fraud.
The investigation is
ongoing as the police
department, with the assis
tance of the U.S. Secret
Service, continues to fol
low up on additional infor
mation relating to the case,
the release said.
RIBBON CUTTING HELD FOR
NEW VISION SOURCE WINDER LOCATION
The Barrow County Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting on
Thursday, Oct. 27 at Farmer’s Prescription Shop and Vision Source
Winder’s new location at 279 N. Broad Street in Winder. Local officials,
chamber representatives, friends and family members were on hand
to tour the new location of these two long-time Winder businesses.

requires it to table the item
for 30 days.
The new elementary
school, which is set to
open for the next school
year, could officially get its
name at the BOE’s Decem
ber meeting.
A recent investigation

resulted in no violations.

received Walls’ cell phone,
but dumped it into Lake
Lanier.
Brady was charged with
tampering with evidence
and theft by taking.
Both he and Baker were
booked in the Barrow
County Jail.

to solve the case quickly.
