Barrow County Sheriff’s Office Incidents
BCSO investigates six entering autos recently
The Barrow County
Sheriff’s Office recently
investigated six reports of
entering autos in the same
Winder area, on Short Leaf
Circle, Berkshire Drive
and Evergreen Drive.
The following was
reported:
•entering an automobile
or other motor vehicle
with the intent to commit
a theft or other felony and
theft by taking at a Short
Leaf Circle, Winder, resi
dence. where a man report
ed someone had broken
into his 2014 Ford F-150
truck by breaking out the
right rear window. He stat
ed a Fort Daniels AR-15
gun with two upper receiv
ers and a Walther P22 pis
tol with a suppressor were
stolen from the truck.
•entering an automobile
or other motor vehicle
with the intent to com
mit a theft or other felony
and theft by taking at a
Berkshire Drive. Winder,
residence, where a woman
reported two vehicles had
been broken into. She said
the driver’s window on a
2009 Pontiac Vibe was
broken out and lying on
the ground a few feet from
the car and the driver’s
window on a 2010 Chev
rolet Silverado had been
removed and was lying
on the ground. She stat
ed both vehicles had been
rummaged through, but the
only thing missing was $7
in US currency taken out
of her husband’s wallet
that was in the driver’s side
door of his truck.
•entering an automobile
or other motor vehicle with
the intent to commit a theft
or other felony and theft
by taking at a Short Leaf
Circle, Winder, residence,
where a woman reported
someone entered her 2013
Hyundai Elantra. parked
in her driveway, and took a
GPS and a fire extinguish
er, both valued at $150.
•entering an automobile
or other motor vehicle with
the intent to commit a theft
or other felony and theft
by taking at an Evergreen
Drive. Winder, residence,
where a woman reported
someone entered her boy
friend’s 2012 GMC Sierra
truck by taking the driver’s
side window out.
•entering an automobile
or other motor vehicle
with the intent to com
mit a theft or other felony
and theft by taking at an
Evergreen Drive, Winder,
residence, where a man
reported yard equipment
missing from his work
trailer that was parked in
his yard. The complainant
said a $600 weed eater,
$400 hedge trimmer and
$800 edger were missing
from the trailer.
•entering an automobile
or other motor vehicle with
the intent to commit a theft
or other felony and theft
by taking at a Berkshire
Drive. Winder, residence,
where a woman reported
someone got into her 2016
Jeep Patriot and stole two
portable DVD players off
the headrests on the front
seats.
OTHER INCIDENTS
Other recent incidents
reported to the BCSO
included:
•theft by taking at a
Larry Lane, Winder, resi
dence. A man at a Kirkland
Circle residence reported
he loaned a Hyundai gen
erator to a female resident
of Larry Lane and a male
and the female told him the
generator was stolen from
her residence. The com
plainant said the female
stated the male stole the
generator and sold it, but
the complainant said he
had been told the female
sold the generator to sup
port her drug habit.
•burglary, theft by tak
ing and criminal trespass
at an Atlanta Highway SE.
Statham, residence, where
a woman reported food
items missing from her
freezer on her screened-
in porch. She valued the
missing food items at $38.
•simple battery - Fam
ily Violence Act (FVA) at
a Harmony Lane, Auburn,
residence, where a domes
tic dispute was reported
between a woman and her
boyfriend. The woman
said her boyfriend was
drunk, they began arguing,
he got mad and punched
her in the back of the head.
•identity theft fraud
when using/possess
ing identifying informa
tion concerning a person
at a Bear Creek Road,
Statham, residence, where
a man reported receiving
a letter by mail from Ver
izon Wireless that there
was a balance on a cell
phone account in his name.
The complainant said he
has never had a Verizon
account.
• identity theft fraud
when using/possessing
identifying information
concerning a person at a
Nunnally Drive, Winder,
residence, where a woman
reported being contacted
by Macy’s department
store in reference to suspi
cious activity on her credit
cards. She said she was
also contacted the same
day by Belk department
stores about a $600 charge
that she did not authorize.
•simple battery - FVA.
violation of a Family Vio
lence order and driving
while driver’s license is
suspended or revoked at
an Elliott’s Lane. Auburn,
residence, where a domes
tic dispute was reported
between a man and his
girlfriend. The man said
he came to his girlfriend’s
house to drop off her purse
that she left in his truck
and she answered the door
with a gun in her hand
and began firing at him.
The female said the male
forced her out of truck
earlier during an argument
and he kept her purse. She
stated while she was in
the truck with the male he
punched her.
•criminal damage to
property at Pine Hills
Golf Course, Hog Moun
tain Road, Winder. The
grounds superintendent/
complainant reported
someone attempted to “do
donuts on the course’’ and
caused $1,000 in damages
on the #4 fairway and #3
green.
•theft by shoplifting at
TJ Maxx on Loganville
Highway, Bethlehem,
where a female took a hair
dryer and several clothing
items and exited the store
without paying.
•theft by taking and
criminal trespass at an
Eastbrook Drive, Winder,
residence, where a man
reported items valued at
$39 missing from his resi
dence after a friend moved
out. The complainant also
stated a door was damaged
and a toilet was clogged
while the friend was mov
ing out.
•aggravated assault,
battery - FVA and sim
ple assault - FVA at a
Lincoln Drive, Winder,
residence, where a domes
tic dispute was reported
between a woman and her
husband. The female said
she got into an alterca
tion with her husband. She
said he jumped on top of
her and wrapped one hand
around her throat, began
strangling her and tell
ing her “you’re gonna die
tonight.’’ She said he also
sprained her ring finger in
an attempt to pull her wed
ding ring off.
•forgery at a Christmas
Avenue, Bethlehem, busi
ness, where a female had
attempted to buy gas with
a counterfeit $10 bill.
•theft by taking at a
Jefferson Road, Statham.
residence, where a man
reported the theft of an
8x10 utility trailer, valued
at $550, that was parked in
his yard.
•possession of marijua
na and brake light require
ments violation on Atlanta
Highway NW at Patrick
Mill Road SW, Winder,
where a traffic stop was
initiated on the driver of a
1996 Nissan Quest.
•simple assault at a
Wagon Wheel Trail,
Statham, residence. A
man reported an employee
with his garbage collection
company threw his gar
bage can onto the curb and
almost struck his car. The
complainant said when he
asked the man about the
incident the man became
irate and approached him
with “clenched fists.” He
said the man accused him
of having an issue and the
man became very confron
tational. The complainant
said he attempted to get
the man’s name and when
he called the garbage col
lection company he was
told the man had been
fired.
•dispute at a Thurmond
Circle, Statham, residence.
The female complainant
stated she stayed at this
residence off and on with
a man and the man’s moth
er arrived and would not
allow her to enter the res
idence. The complainant
stated a verbal argument
ensued and the man’s
mother broke the outside
porch window. The male
resident’s mother said he
asked her to come over a
keep an eye on his resi
dence. When contacted by
phone, the male resident
said he wanted the female
complainant escorted off
the property.

NW, Winder, residence,
where a man was taken
into custody for two felony
probation warrants.
•aggressive driving
on Atlanta Highway SE,
Statham, where the driv
er of a 2001 Ford Mus
tang was stopped by an
officer after he ran up on
the back bumper of the
patrol vehicle so close the
officer was unable to see
the headlights on the Mus
tang. The officer reported
he observed the Mustang
driver riding close to the
rear of other vehicles and
cut over in front of another
vehicle without signaling.
•theft by taking at Har
rison Poultry Inc., East
Star Street. Winder, where
an employee reported the
theft of a van-style trailer
valued at $30,000.
•simple assault - FVA
and criminal trespass at
Speedy Tire. Atlanta High
way NW, Auburn, where
a domestic dispute was
reported, between a man
and his son. The man said
his son showed up late to
work and when he told his
son he was only going to
be paid for the half day
he worked his son got
upset and started yelling
at him. He said he tried
to speak to his son about
his anger problems. The
complainant said he was
afraid his son was going to
hurt him. He said his son
punched a window on the
tire shop causing $150 in
damage.
•theft by taking and
criminal trespass at a
Cedar Valley Trail E,
Winder, residence, where
a man reported a sto
len four-wheeler. The
four-wheeler was later
found up a hill, along a
power line, across from the
complainant’s residence.
•entering an automobile
or other motor vehicle
with the intent to com
mit a theft or other felony
and theft by taking at Del
Monte on Bankhead High
way. Winder, where a man
reported the seat missing
from his Mazda truck and
along with a Remington
Woodmaster 742 rifle that
was behind the seat.
•contempt of Superior
Court at an East Wright
Street. Winder, residence,
where a woman reported
a violation of a Temporary
Protective Order (TPO)
against her husband,
whom she is in the process
of divorcing.
•criminal trespass at a
Fletcher Drive, Wind
er, residence. A woman
reported her ex-boyfriend
came to her residence,
didn’t knock on the door or
anything and just walked
into her house uninvited.
•forgery at Domino’s,
Patrick Mill Road SW.
Winder, where the man
ager reported a pizza was
delivered to an Etheridge
Drive residence and a fake
$20 bill was received for
payment of the pizza.
•forgery at Fatz Cafe,
Atlanta Highway NW.
Winder, where the manager
reported receiving two $20
bills that “were obviously
counterfeit.”
•harassing phone calls
at a Regency Drive, Beth
lehem. residence, where a
woman reported receiving
harassing phone calls from
the owner of the residence
she is currently renting.
•theft by taking at a
Rockwell Church Road NE.
Winder, residence, where
a man reported a missing
window air conditioning
unit valued at $700. The
complainant stated the unit
was taken by his former
tenant and her boyfriend,
who had just moved out of
the residence.
•simple assault at a Whis
pering Way SW, Winder,
residence. The male com
plainant reported another
male came walking down
the road making threats of
physical violence against
him. He said the man told
him he would fight him and
then stated he was going to
shoot him (complainant).
•forgery and theft by
deception at Walmart. Atlan
ta Highway NW, Winder,
where a man reportedly
paid for $48 in merchandise
using three $20 will that
were counterfeit.
•forgery and theft by
deception at Walmart,
Atlanta Highway NW.
Winder, where a man paid
for $9 in merchandise using
a counterfeit $20 bill.
•theft by shoplifting at
Walmart. Winder, where a
female reportedly took an
$80 hair straightener with
out paying.
•criminal trespass, theft
by taking and entering an
automobile or other motor
vehicle with the intent to
commit a theft or other fel
ony at an Evergreen Drive.
Winder, residence, where a
woman reported someone
had broken into her hus
band’s 2014 Dodge Ram
truck and sunglasses were
missing from the truck.
•burglary and theft by
taking at an Old Thomp
son Mill Road, Winder,
residence, where a man
reported someone had bro
ken into the residence. The
man stated a guitar valued
at $400 and miscellaneous
gold and silver bracelets,
rings, necklaces and cos
tume jewelry valued at
$1,500 were taken from
the residence.
•criminal trespass at
an Azalea Drive, Wind
er, residence. A woman
reported when she got
home a note was taped to
her front door. She said
the note read, “Please do
something about the dogs,
this can’t go on or else.”
She said she didn’t feel
the note was threatening to
her, but towards her dogs’
well being.
