at her residence.
Mrs. Bentley was born July

Bentley was
retired from
the Forsyth
County
Sheriff’s
Office as a transcriptionist after
10 years of service and had been
employed by the Forsyth County
Marshal’s office. Mrs. Bentley
was of the Christian denomina
tion.
Survivors include a daugh
ter, Larue Dellana, Jefferson,
daughter, Tammy Stovers,
Buford; grandchildren, Brittney
Caldwell, Nathan Tucker, Bri-
anna Reno and Zachary Smith;

Martha Jo Ginn, 71, formerly
of 1548 Parkway, widow of Wil
liam Moore Ginn, died Thurs
day, November 17, 2016, at Hos-
piceCare of the Piedmont.
Born in Commerce, she was
the daughter of the late J.C.
and Lois Haynie Martin. She
retired from Greenwood Mills,
Durst Plant, after 22 years of
service and was a member of
Trinity Baptist Tabernacle and
the Ladies Sunday School Class.
She was preceded in death by a
son, Billy Joe Ginn.
Survivors include her chil
dren, Stacie Harvley, Lexing
ton, Mildred Holloway (J.R.),
Gilbert, and Vernon Robinson,
Greenwood; 18 grandchildren;
31 great-grandchildren; and 12
great-great-grandchildren.

COLBERT - Ethel Joyce
Johnson, 92, passed away in her
sleep early on Tuesday morning,
November 15, 2016.
Mrs. Johnson was born in
Mercury, located in McCull
och County, Texas, on October
2, 1924. She was the daugh
ter of the late William Dray
ton Mathews and Ethel Haynes
Mathews of Brooksmith, Texas.

Charles Wil
liam Johnson,
in 1942. She
traveled many
places since Mr. Johnson was
a member of the United States
Army Air Force. He served in
World War II, the Korean War,
and the Vietnam War.
Ethel remained in the states
with their two children until they
could join him again. Mrs. John
son graduated from Draughons
Business College in Abilene,
Texas, and she worked most of
their military life. She retired
in 1980 with 20 years of fed
eral service. Ethel was preceded
in her death by her husband,
Charles; a brother, William
Drayton III, Winslow, Ariz.; and
her sister, Ruth Anderus, San
Angelo, Texas.
Survivors include her son,
Charles Gary Johnson (Ina),
Ellijay; daughter, Karen Ruth
Wilkes, Colbert: four grand
children, Matt Johnson, Denver,
Colo., Jennifer Fowler, Powder

taught four year olds in Sunday
School for 21 years. She was

Johnny Smallwood
ALTO - Johnny D. Small
wood, 66, passed away on Tues
day, November 15, 2016, at his
residence with his loving family
by his side, following a long bat
tle with cancer, kidney disease,
and heart failure.
Mr. Smallwood was bom on
January 11, 1950, in Franklin,
Ga., the son of the late Hand-
ley T. and Cora Fowler Small
wood. He was one of 13 broth
ers and sisters. Johnny attended
high school at Woodville High
School in Woodville, Ala. and
Troup County High School in
LaGrange, Ga. He relocated
to North Georgia at the age of
16 and attended North Haber
sham High School. Johnny was
a retired farmer and long-time
North Georgia resident. He was
an avid fisherman and horse
back rider in his younger days.
Johnny was saved by God’s mar
velous grace as a young adult
and was a member of North-
side Baptist Church. He was
preceded in death by his infant
daughter, Shannon Smallwood;
sisters, Martha “Jenny” Allred
and Sarah Grimes; and brothers,
James Smallwood, Bob Small
wood, and Junior Kirkland.
Survivors include his loving
wife of 46 years, Faye Gaddis

kins; granddaughter, whom he

smile and contagious laugh

he came in contact with. Adam
loved his family, his caregiv
ers, listening to music, exploring
downtown Commerce, baseball
games, and traveling, especially
to Dollywood. Adam attended
Commerce Schools and gradu
ated from Jackson County High
School in 2004, where he par
ticipated in chorus and Special
Olympics.

Talbot, Portland, Ore.: a brother,
Aaron (Melissa) Talbot, Dacula,
Ga.; two nieces, Aubriana and
Brooke Talbot; paternal grand

Mize; brother, Hoke Thomas;
and sisters, Maybelle Satterfield,
Grace Pritchett, Lucille Morris,
and Mildred Seay.
Survivors include his wife,
Mary Anne Thomas, Commerce;
daughter, Pam Mize (Mike),
Commerce; sons, Mike Thomas
(Kym) and David Thomas (Nat
alie), all of Commerce; sister,
Betty Minish, Pensacola, Fla.;
and six grandchildren.
Graveside services were held
Tuesday, November 22, at Jack-
son Memorial Park with the Rev.
Troy Herbert officiating.

Mr. Casey
was the son

the late Billy
Ray Casey.
He was a
maintenance technician with
Greenwood Inc. and was of the
Baptist denomination.
Survivors in addition to his
mother include a brother and
sister-in-law, Michael and Stacy
Casey, Maysville; sister, Cas
sandra McElroy, Commerce; sis
ter and brother-in-law, Shuree
and Donald Toney, Commerce;
and nieces and nephews, Jake,
Aidan, Amanda, Eduardo, Oliv
ia, Ezra, Casey and Reghan.
Funeral services were held
Sunday, November 20, at Ivie
Funeral Home Chapel with
the Rev. Joey Yeary officiat
ing. Burial was in the Grey Hill
Cemetery.
