BCSO continued from 9A
•approved a temporary
25-percent increase in the
non-contract wholesale
water price from $2.87 per
1,000 gallons to $3.59 per
1,000 gallons. The change
is in response to the state's
recent declaration of a
Level II Drought Response
area across most of north
Georgia, including Barrow.
The increase will remain
in effect until the drought
designation is lifted by
the state, county manager
Mike Renshaw said.
The board's meeting
was the first since com
missioner Billy Parks was
sworn back into office
earlier this month. Parks,
of District 5, resigned his
seat this spring in order
to challenge chairman Pat
Graham in the Republican
primary in May, and the
seat had remained vacant
since. Parks lost his chal
lenge, but was the only
candidate to qualify for a
special election for the seat
which was to be held in
conjunction with the Nov.
8 general election.
Since Parks was the
only one to qualify, he was
declared the winner and
the special election was
not held.
