WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 21, 2016 BARROW NEWS-JOURNAL PAGE 7A Public Safety Barrow County Sheriff’s Office Incidents Various thefts, burglaries reported to sheriffs office The Barrow County Sheriffs Office recently responded to the following incidents: •shoplifting at Target, Logan- ville Highway, Bethlehem, where an employee reported he observed a female enter the store, go to the baby monitor section, select a baby monitor, walk to customer service and return the monitor for a gift card. The employee said while this female was at customer service a second female selected a 32-inch television and walked out of the store without paying for the $180 price of the TV. He said the two were observed getting in a red car as they left the scene. •theft by taking at a Maple Park Drive. Winder, residence, where a man reported the theft of a 2013 Baja MB200 mini bike, valued at $500, from his property. •burglary, theft by taking and criminal trespass at a Rainey Brooke Drive, Winder, residence, where a male reported the theft of an Xbox 1, three controllers and eight games. •reckless conduct, discharge of a firearm while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and discharge of a weapon on or near a public highway or street on Elliotts Lane, Auburn. A man reported someone shot a firearm near him as he was walking his dog on Clacktown Road, a dirt road that backs up to Elliotts Lane. The complainant said two males came outside a residence onto the back porch and started yelling at him, things like “get out of here.” He said he didn’t pay them any attention and then he saw one male produce what appeared to be a black handgun and point it towards the road he was walking on. The com plainant stated the male fired the gun approximately five or six times and the shots went over the road he was standing on. He said the males kept yelling at him and he continued walking. •burglary, theft by taking and party to a crime at Walmart. Atlanta Highway NW, Wind er, where two males had been observed stealing 54 Apple prod ucts, valued at $19,536, from the electronics section of the store. •criminal trespass at a Wil liams Road, Auburn, residence, where a female reported that another woman had walked through her garage into her shop and startled her son who was in the shop. She said the woman stated “she would pay them to give her a ride somewhere,” The complainant said the woman told her and her son that she had been in a wreck and she didn’t know where she was. •criminal trespass at Georgia Spa Company, Harry McCarty Road, Bethlehem, where a man reported someone had spray painted the front of the building. •theft by shoplifting at Walmart. Atlanta Highway NW, Winder, where a female had reportedly taken 35 items, from various departments includ ing grocery, clothing, toys and electronics, totaling $728. and attempted to exit the store with out paying. •A woman reported she had been advised that someone had changed her mailing address through the post office to a Litho- nia address and several packages she ordered had been delivered to the Lithonia address. She said two credit cards had also been opened in her name without her authorization. The complainant said her bank had also advised her that an attempt was made to “hack” into her bank account. •A woman reported finding a book bag in her yard with what appeared to be a handgun inside. It turned out the handgun was actually a paintball gun. •A man at a Carl-Cedar Hill Road. Winder, residence report ed someone had broken into his 2011 Dodge Ram 1550 truck and damaged the ignition switch. He said a phone charger was missing from inside the truck. He valued the phone charger at $20 and the damage of $500. •A woman reported her wallet missing at Walmart. •criminal trespass at a Dooley Town Road, Statham, residence, where a woman reported “some unidentified male was on her property without permission and living in an abandoned/undevel oped structure on the property.” •suspicious activity at an Aza lea Drive. Winder, residence, where a woman reported finding an envelope in her mailbox with no address listed on the enve lope. She said she opened the envelope and observed a card inside with a hand written mes sage that stated, “Happy Holi days, Remember drive slow & let the kids & animals live.” The complainant stated that some of her neighbors had received simi lar messages as well. •theft by taking and crimi nal trespass at a Highway 82. Statham, residence, where a man reported the theft of a 1998 Yamaha four-wheeler off a trailer that was parked in his yard. •criminal damage to prop erty and simple assault at a Carl-Bethlehem Road, Wind er, business. The complainant reported a man came into the store and attempted to exchange a digital scale he had purchased the week prior. The complainant said he was not present when the man bought the scale and he told him he would have to come back when his boss was there. See BCSO incidents on Page 9A Winder Police Department Incidents Chainsaw theft reported at Smokin’ Po Boys restaurant The Winder Police Depart ment reports the following recent incidents: •suspicious activity at Carmike Movie Theater, Exchange Boulevard, Beth lehem, where a tow buck, with two Dodge Ram trucks, was found parked at the end of the road in a dark area. •recovered stolen proper ty at a Meadowbrook Drive, location, where a 1997 Honda Civic, reported stolen out of Auburn, was found parked on the shoulder of the road. •theft by conversion at a Capitol Avenue residence. A woman reported sometime in the middle of October of this year she loaned her 2005 Dodge Dakota truck to her niece to use for one week. She said she had attempted to get the truck returned from her niece but she refuses to return it. •entering an automobile or other motor vehicle with the intent to commit a theft or other felony at Smokin’ Po Boys Restaurant on West Athens Street, where a man reported the theft of a chain saw from his buck. •theft by taking at a Mag- noha Drive residence, where a man reported the theft of two rings valued at $3,000. The complainant stated he suspected a woman who helped take care of his dis abled wife of taking the rings. •burglary at a Nonsuch Way residence, where a man reported a home invasion. He said he heard noises coming from a bedroom and when he went to check he noticed a window was open. He said he went outside his front door and a young male was stand ing in his front yard. The items included a 12 gauge shot gun, scope, impact wrench and drill, camera, motorcycle helmet and a car title. •theft by taking at a Missi Lane residence, where a juvenile reported the theft of her cell phone while she was at Winder-Barrow High School.
