Celestial harp performance
set for 106 West on Friday
Food distribution day set
Amanda Bateman will
be playing classical, tra
ditional and Celtic tunes
on her harp as a featured
guest at the “Be Mine, Val
entine” Open Mic hosted
by 106 West Friday at 7:30
p.m.
Amanda is 15 years old
and a native of Atlanta who
has studied the harp for
almost four years. She is
currently a student in the
studio of Nella Rigell of
Decatur, and will be per
forming on a Lyon and
Healy CG85 pedal harp
that she owns and cherish
es as a priceless gift.
Amanda will be joining
multiple acoustic music
acts — including guitar
ists, pianists, and sing
er-songwriters — who will
be performing original or
public domain music Fri
day night.

Library
The following events are
coming up at the Auburn
Library:
•Teen Anti-Valentine’s
Day Party - 6-8 p.m. on
Friday. Feb. 10, for ages
12-19. “Think Valentine’s
Day is dumb and love is
silly?” asks Bel Outwater,
library manager. “Then
come to our Anti-Valen
tine’s Day party! No “L”
word allowed, no talking
about girlfriends or boy
friends, and no red or pink
allowed!”
•Crafternoon - 12-4 p.m.
on Saturday, Feb. 11, for
ages 3 and up with a care
giver. “Once a month drop
in and make a free craft,”
said Outwater. “We provide
all supplies.”
•Ready to Read Pre-K
Story Time - 11:15 a.m. on
Monday. Feb. 13, for ages
two and up with a caregiv
er. “Ms. Renee uses stories,
rhymes and songs to enter
tain and teach early literacy
concepts,” said Outwater.
•Stitch, Knit and Crochet
Club - 1 p.m. on Monday,
Feb. 13. “Meet with other
people who share your love
of yarn craft!” Outwater
said. Bring your own yarn
and needles.
•Adult Coloring - 6-8
p.m. on Monday. Feb. 13,
for adults only. “Come
color your cares away,” said
Outwater. “Use our sup
plies or bring your own.”
•Teen Writing Group -
5 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb.
14, for ages 12-19. “Come
share your love of writing
with other teens and get
advice from your peers and
Ms. Flolly,” Outwater said.
•Lapsit Story Time -
11:15 a.m. on Wednes
day, Feb 15, for ages two
and under. “This story
time introduces our littlest
patrons to board books
and sensory toys as well
as rhymes and songs,” said
Outwater.
The library is located
at 24 5th Street. Library
hours are: Monday, 11
a.m. to 8 p.m.; Tuesday
through Thursday, 11 a.m.
to 7 p.m.; Friday and Satur
day, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.: and
closed on Sundays.

The Barrow Coun
ty Food Pantry, in
partnership with The
Food Bank of North
east Georgia, will have
a food distribution day
at 8 a.m. on Thursday,
Feb. 23.
The event will be
held, rain or shine, at
Holly Hill Mall, across
from Hill’s Ace Hard
ware, 186 West Athens
St., Winder.
This month’s event is
sponsored by the Wind
er First Presbyterian
Church.
The food distribution
is open to all Barrow
County residents who
meet USDA income eli
gibility requirements.
Proof of Barrow
County residency is
required.
The food is distribut
ed on a first come, first
served basis.
The event is held
the fourth Thursday of
every month January
through October, and
on the third Thursday in
November and Decem
ber.
