Winder Police Department Arrests
Cases of forgery, theft,
shoplifting reported
The following incidents
were recently reported to
the Winder Police Depart
ment:
•forgery at McDonald’s
on North Broad Street,
where a fake $10 bill was
found when the manager
was counting the money.
•theft by taking at a
Sutherland Drive res
idence, where a woman
reported the hub caps
missing from her 2005
Honda Accord parked at
her residence.
•welfare check at the
Jameson Inn on Mari
on Lay Street. A Barrow
County Department of
Family and Children Ser
vices caseworker reported
three children reportedly
living at the motel had not
been attending school.
•forgery at the Phil
lips 66 on North Broad
Street, where an employee
reported cashing a check
that was returned “No
Account."
•simple assault at a
Ryan Road residence,
where a possible “burglary
in progress” was reported.
•theft by taking at a
Sutherland Drive res
idence, where a man
reported someone stole
the hub caps off his 2015
Toyota Corolla parked at
his residence.
•identity theft fraud
when using/possess
ing identifying informa
tion concerning a person
and forgery at Bank of
the Ozarks, West Athens
Street, where a female
was in the lobby trying
to cash a check on an
account that was closed
due to the death of the
account owner.
•theft by shoplifting at
Publix on Monroe High
way, where a woman had
reportedly walked out of
the store with items in
her purse that she did not
pay for.
•battery at Taco Bell,
East May Street, where
a fight was reported
between an irate customer
and an employee.
•identity theft at a
Gainesville Highway
residence, where a man
reported that his former
roommate was using his
name to look at vehicles
at car dealerships.
•theft by shoplifting
at Ingles, North Broad
Street, where a female had
reportedly taken a bakery
cake valued at $50 with
out paying.
•simple battery at an
East Wright Street resi
dence, where a woman
reported "she was in fear
for her life” from her hus
band.
•disorderly conduct at
a West Midland Avenue
residence, where a man
reported, while he was
outside feeding his dog,
his neighbor adjacent to
his property began “yell
ing and cursing” about the
complainant’s dog. The
complainant stated his
neighbor made threats and
shined a laser at his chest
and head.
•criminal trespass at
Sunny Dayz Sports Bar on
North Broad Street, where
a dispute was reported.
The complainant stated a
woman threw a bottle and
broke a window near the
front door.
•burglary at a West
Oak Street residence,
where a woman reported
the screen door had been
cut and the screen door
handle had been partially
broken on her mother’s
residence.
•theft by taking at the
Jameson Inn, Stafford
Street, where a woman
reported the theft of her
purse.
•theft by taking at a
Georgia Avenue residence,
where a man reported his
air compressor had been
taken off his front porch.
•criminal trespass and
obstructing or hindering
persons making emer
gency phone calls at a
Wood Avenue residence,
where a domestic dispute
was reported between a
woman and her husband.
•forgery at Peach State
Federal Credit Union on
North Broad Street, where
a man and woman report
ed five checks counter
feited and forged on their
joint checking account.
•violation of a Family
Violence Order (FVO)
at a North Broad Street
location where a domes
tic dispute was reported
between a woman and her
daughter.
•possession of cocaine
at a Midland Avenue loca
tion, where a deflated
white balloon that con
tained a white powder was
found on the side of the
street.
•theft by deception
reported to the Wind
er Police Department
on Midland Avenue. A
woman reported fraud in
reference to a house for
rent in Winder.
•obtaining/attempting
to obtain dangerous drugs
by fraud, forgery or con
cealment of facts at Wal
greens, East May Street.
•financial transaction
card fraud at a Bell-
ingrath Drive residence,
where a woman reported
receiving notice that she
owned $650 to American
Express. She stated she
did not have an American
Express account.
•DUI - drugs, driving
while driver’s license is
suspended or revoked,
possession of a Schedule
IV controlled substance,
drugs not kept in original
container and possession
of methamphetamine at
Ingles on North Broad
Street, where a female was
reportedly asleep inside
a 2003 Ford Explorer
parked next to a gas pump.
•harassment at Pub
lix on Monroe Highway,
where a man reported his
ex-girlfriend was follow
ing him.
•willful obstruction of
law enforcement officers,
possession of marijuana
and outstanding arrest
warrant at a North Broad
Street location.

control device, driving with a suspended or
revoked license and driving under the influ
ence (DUI) of alcohol.

Court, Bethlehem, driving with a suspended
or revoked license, willful obstruction of law
enforcement officers, giving a false name,
address or birthdate to a law enforcement
officer, driver’s license to be displayed upon
demand of a law enforcement officer and no
insurance.

Online relationship turns out to be scam
An Auburn woman recently reported
a fraud complaint to the Auburn Police
Department stemming from an online
relationship.
According to an incident report, the
woman said she had been in a month
long online relationship with a man who
told her he was in the military.
She said he told her he would be com
ing home soon and asked if he could
mail his belongings to her home.
The complainant said she then started
getting phone calls asking her to pay for
shipping costs for his belongings, and
she paid.
She said she then received a call
requesting $2,500 be paid because his
belongings were stuck in customs.
She said she paid the $2,500, but
when she received another call about
sending $18,000 to get the belongings,
she told the caller she was not going
to pay and she called the police depart
ment to fde a report.
