Wayne Alexander
WINDER — Wayne Alexander, 79, Winder, passed
away Wednesday, August 11,2021 at his residence.
He was bom June 20,
1942 in Jefferson, to the
late Robert and Mary
Whitehead Alexander.
Wayne was preceded by
his brother and sister-in-
law, Jerry and Jane Alex
ander. A resident of B ar
row County for most of
his life, he was a retiree
of Akins Ford, where he
served as manager of the
body repair shop.
Surviving are wife, Don-
ice Blackstock Alexander, Winder; sons, Todd (Terresa)
Alexander, Hull, Chris Alexander, Winder, and Matt
(Jonessa) Alexander, Dacula; grandchildren, Tyler Al
exander, Dustin Alexander, Kaleb Alexander, Courtney
Alexander, Mason Alexander and Sam Alexander;and
niece, Tonya Royal.
Family to receive friends: Saturday. August 14, 2021
from 10 until 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
Graveside service: Saturday. August 14, 2021 at
12 p.m. at Barrow Memorial Gardens with Bobby Sell
ers and Marshall Britt officiating.

Horrace V. Brooksher
WINDER — Horrace V. Brooksher, 96, Winder,
passed away Sunday, August 15, 2021.
He was a member of
the Winder First Unit
ed Methodist Church.
Horrace was a United
States Army Veteran who
served in the Pacific The
ater during WWII, serv
ing in the Philippines and taking part in the invasion
of Japan.
He retired from the U.S. Postal Service as the su
perintendent of postal operations. One of Horrace’s
hobbies was being an amateur ham radio operator, he
loved building things and working with his hands, he
was that guy who could fix anything.
Horrace was preceded in death by his parents, Nor
man and Bessie Doster Brooksher; his loving wife of
63 years, Mellie Segars Brooksher; and his daughter,
Kathy Wall.
He is survived by two sons, Steven Brooksher
(Rita), Winder, and David Brooksher, Alpharetta;
three grandchildren, Brooke Stover (Drew), Brian
Klein (Jessica) and Kristina Cole; and a great-grand
child, Jackson Cole.
Funeral service: Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at
2 p.m. in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home, Winder,
with Pastor Dave Hinson officiating.
Family to receive friends: Wednesday, August 18,
2021 from 12 until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Gary Bryan Duncan
BETHFEHEM — Gary Bryan Duncan, 53, of
Bethlehem, passed away on Monday, August 9,
2021.
Mr. Duncan was a
welder and fabricator
by trade. He will be best
remembered as a family
oriented man that held
a special bond with his
grandchildren. He par
ticularly loved watching
his grandchildren play
sports. Mr. Duncan was
a member of Ebenezer
Baptist Church.
Mr. Duncan is pre
ceded in death by his
parents, William and Clarice Duncan; and brother,
William Clay Duncan.
Mr. Duncan is survived by his children, Christo
pher Bryan (Findsey) Duncan, Allen Brantley (Kris
ten) Duncan and Misty Dawn Duncan (fiance, Brant
Aaron Roberts); siblings, Wayne Brantley (Sue)
Duncan and Donna Marie Fowler; and six grandchil
dren, Ally Duncan, Brantley Duncan, Aralynn Rob
erts, Oakleigh Duncan, Kieran Roberts and Maddox
Duncan.
Family to receive friends: Thursday, August 12,
2021 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home.
Funeral service: Friday, August 13,2021 at 11 a.m.

Bobby Lamar Jones
MAYSVIFFE — Bobby Famar Jones, 70, Maysville,
a beloved husband, dad and papaw went to be with the
Ford on Thursday, August 12, 2021.
Bobby was born on June
8, 1951 in Atlanta and
raised in the Brandywine
area of Forsyth County.
He is preceded in death
by his parents, J.B. Jones
and Evelyn Miller Jones,
Maysville; and his daugh
ter, Heather Fea Jones Re-
imer, Seattle, Washington.
He was a graduate of
Forsyth County High
School in 1969. Bobby
was a Veteran of the Unit
ed States Navy and served from 1971-1973. He was a
graduate of Gainesville College.
He retired from Fucent Technologies in 2000 and
worked with the Georgia State Department of Safety
with the Motor Carrier Compliance Division.
He was a member of Maysville Baptist Church and
The Seekers Sunday School Class.
On September 19, 2014, he underwent a bilateral
lung transplant at Duke Medical University in Durham,
North Carolina. He was able to spend seven more years
with family and friends due to the unselfishness of the
donor family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Dor
othy Campbell Jones, Maysville; son, Travis Famar
Jones (Christa), Auburn; stepchildren, Dawn Kaegael,
Dallas, Texas, Dwight Murr Jr., Waxachie, Texas, and
Dallas Murr (Alicia), Arlington, Texas; grandchildren,
Talan Wayne Jones and Jossylyn Heather Jones, both of
Auburn; step-grandchildren, Jared Muir, Jordan Muit,
Olivia Muir, Dwight Murr III, Savannah Murr, Michael
R Kaegael, Daniel, Joseph and Isabell Muit, all from
Texas; siblings, Jimmy Jones (Michele), Talmo, Patsy
Smith (Jimmy), Oakwood, and Cheryl Self (David),
Snellville; step-mother, Nila Jones, Florida; numerous
nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews; and his
first wife, Jacqueline Jones, Auburn.
Funeral service: Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at
11 a.m. at Evans Funeral Home in Jefferson with the
Reverend David Sharpton officiating. Burial will take
place at 2 p.m. at Greenlawn Cemetery, 950 Mansel
Road, Roswell, Georgia.
Family to receive friends: Tuesday, August 17, 2021
from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Robert Eugene Ledford
ROYSTON — Robert Eugene Fedford, 86, Royston,
passed away on Thursday, August 12, 2021, at his
home.
Mr. Fedford was bom
in Decatur on May 3,
1935, son of the late
Charles Fedford and the
late Ester Fong Fedford.
He was a builder, a U.S.
Army veteran and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist
Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by
a brother, Dennis Fedford; and sisters, JoAnn Godfrey
and Betty Ford.
Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Vaughn Fed
ford; step-sons, Jack Crowe, Florida, and Tony Crowe,
Dallas; step-daughters, Brenda Arden, Easley, S.C.,
and Patricia Reece of Chesnee, S.C.; sister, Margaret
Cochran, Alabama; seven step-grandchildren; and four
step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service: Sunday, August 15,2021 at 4 p.m. in
the Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Reggie
Vaughn and Chris Pritchett officiating. Interment will
be at the Georgia Memorial Park in Marietta at 1 p.m.
on Monday, August 16,2021.

Jerry Joel Mealor
COMMERCE — Jerry Joel Mealor, 85, Commerce,
went home to be with his Ford on Sunday, August 15,
2021 at his residence.
He was the oldest of three children of the late Reba
Massey Mealor and James Hubert Mealor.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death
by his sister, Pearlene Mealor Wood; and adopted son,
Matthew K. Wheeler.
Jerry was a fun-loving man who enjoyed telling en
tertaining stories of days gone by. He would also, if en
couraged, give you his full name: Jerry J. Allawishus, P
Bonsamuel, Beauregard, Happenstance, Clawhammer,
Goforth, Stonewall Jackson Mealor. His loving grand
children called him Opa.
Jerry Mealor attended Benton Elementary School,
graduating in the first class to finish grades 1-12, in
1954. He served in the United States Army. Jerry was
employed at Roper Pump Company for 36 year's, until
his retirement in 1992.
Jerry married the love of his life, Charlotte Wheeler,
on November 28, 1968. They were happily married for
52 year's and nine months and were blessed to have ad
opted Matt, who brought great joy into their lives.
Surviving family members are his “first” wife, Char
lotte Wheeler Mealor; sister, Sara Mealor Massey;
daughter-in-law, DeeAnne Morgan Wheeler; grand
son, Matthew Wheeler II; granddaughter, Ella Wheel
er; brothers-in-law, Kenneth F. Wheeler (Mona) and
Charles G. Wheeler Jr. (Jean); nephews, Joel Massey
(Rebecca), James Massey (Debbie) and Andy Wheel
er (Mandy); nieces, Beth Wood Porter (Kelly) and Gail
Wood; and many loving cousins.
The Mealor family would like to thank caregivers:
Kasey Evans, Phyllis Bums, Kelsey Poole, Kathleen
Martin and Andy Ross.

Eddie Elmer Moon
HUFF — Eddie Elmer Moon, 75, Hull, greeted his
Heavenly Father while surrounded by his family on
Friday, August 13, 2021.
Born February 19,1946
in Cherokee County, he
was the son of the late
Willie Stanley Moon and
Nancy Pauline Holloway.
He was of the Bap
tist faith and an active
member of Bible Baptist
Church where he served
as the head deacon. Eddie
was an avid bass fisher
man and enjoyed wood
working. He was em
ployed by Harris Trucking of Athens for 47 years as a
trucking specialist.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death
by his brother, Marty Moon; brother-in-law, Kenneth
Boggus; and grandson, James Brandon Morris.
Eddie is survived by his wife of 56 years Shirley
Ann Cox Moon, of the home; his son, Eddie Jeffery
Moon (Carolyn), Danielsville; one daughter, Donna
Marie Hendrix (Joey), Hull; four grandchildren, Me
linda Self (Justin Smith), Hanna Allen (Daniel), Tyler
Morris (Jana) and Ashely Brady; five great-grandchil
dren, Aiden and Sawyer Allen, Adeline and Steven
James Morris and Kaytee Brady; four sisters, Nancy
Poss (Terry), Shirley Aycock (Steve), Mae Boggus
and Kay Shelnut (James); and two brothers, Daniel
and Johnny Moon.
Funeral service: Tuesday, August 17,2021 at 3 p.m.

tors David Cox and Barry Black officiating. Interment
will follow in the Bible Baptist Church Cemetery.

ple Wiles. She was the
widow of Bob Nelson,
was a machine opera
tor, and was preceded
in death by a daughter,
Gail Hatton
Survivors include her
brother, James Wiles;
sisters, Ann Fuller, Hel
en Williams and Daisey Bailey; grandchildren,
Robin Umpierres, Bobby Grider and Tina Grider;
and 15 great-grandchildren.
