L Yvonne Reynolds
WINDER — L. Yvonne Reynolds, 85, Winder, passed
away on Saturday, August 7, 2021.
Mrs. Reynolds was a
member of the Whisdeville
Christian Church. She will
be best remembered as a
loving mother and grand
mother that devoted her life
to her family and friends.
Mrs. Reynolds enjoyed
going to yard sales and to
local flea markets.
Mrs. Reynolds is preced
ed in death by her husband,
Willie Robert Reynolds;
parents, Hemy Alonzo
Marsingill and Ludie Brewer Marsingill; and eleven
brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Reynolds is survived by her children, Linda Faye
Reynolds, Robert (Charlotte) Reynolds and Olen Jerome
Reynolds; three grandchildren, Robert Barry Jr., Katie
and Amanda Reynolds; and eight great-grandchildren,
Lily, Allana and Hannah Padavano, Grade, Klohe and
Hunter Reynolds, Christopher Lamb and Carolyne John
son.
Family to receive friends: Thursday, August 12, 2021
from 12 until 2 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home.
Memorial service: Thursday, August 12, 2021 at
2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Carter Funeral Home with
the Revs. Ray K. Fumea and Ray F. Fumea officiating.
Flowers are welcomed or donations may be made to
the Barrow County Christian Academy, 83 Patrick Mill
Road SW, Winder, Georgia 30680.

Janet Kellee Rice
COLBERT — Janet Kellee Rice, 49, South 5th St.,
Colbert, passed away Sunday, August 8, 2021 at her
home.
Ms. Rice was born October 16,1971 in Anderson, S.C.
to William Mack Rice and Janice Carnes Loggins. Kel
lee loved music, art, animals, cooking and kids, but her
greatest love was her family.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Mack
Rice; her husband, Jamey Wagoner; and a brother, Mark
Rice.
She is survived by a son, Noah Stratton, Colbert; daugh
ter and son-in-law, Shelby and Timothy Castleberry, Col
bert; mother and step-father, Janice Carnes Loggins and
Delano Loggins, Colbert; siblings and their spouses, Lisa
Lovell and Tim Lovell, Lakemont, Mike Rice, Winder,
Jody Rice, Winder, David Loggins and Lacy Loggins,
McMinnville, Term., and Jonathan Loggins and Christy
Loggins, Danielsville; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial service: Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 3 p.m.
at Colbert Living Waters Holiness Church in Colbert
with the Rev. Anthony Castleberry, Evangelist Johnny
Giles and Evangelist Kent Phillips officiating.

Val Hogue Walden
HOSCHTON — Val Hogue Walden, 78, Hoschton, a be
loved husband, father and Big Daddy went to be with the
Lord on Friday, July 30, 2021, at his home surrounded by
his loving family.
Val was bom on July 6,
1943, in Valdosta, and raised
on his beloved Twin Lakes
on Long Pond.
He was preceded in death
by his parents, Alfred Cecil
Walden Jr. and Ruth Hogue
Walden Smith; step-father,
Clarence “Smitty” Smith; and his brother, Alfred Cecil
Walden III.
He was a graduate of Lowndes County High School in
1961 where he was a letterman in football and basketball.
Val was a Veteran of the United States Navy. After his ser
vice in the Navy, he returned home and attended Valdosta
State College.
He retired from the Georgia Department of Labor as As
sistant Division Director of Unemployment Insurance, Tax
es.
He was a member of Mount Carmel Christian Church
where he served as deacon and elder and used his talent
ed voice as a valued member of The Living Tree Christ
mas performances, the church radio program, and he was
the master of ceremonies for other church events. He later
became a member of Galilee Christian Church of Jefferson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Donna Gibbs
Walden, Hoschton; children, Melanie Walden O’Steen
and Travis Ryan Walden (Jennifer); grandchildren, Owen
O’Steen, Abby O’Steen, Drew O’Steen, Ryan Walden and
Brady Walden; brothers, Karl Walden (Jennifer), Ayden,
N.C., John Walden, Orlando, Fla., and Raymond Smith
(Barbara), Blackshear; sister, Barbara North (Jim), Oak
Ridge, N.C.; sister-in-law, Nell Johnson Walden, Byron.
Funeral service: Friday, August 6, 2021 at 2 p.m. in the
chapel of Memorial Park South Funeral Home with Nick
Vipperman officiating. A private family burial will be held
at a later date.
Family to receive friends: Friday, August 6, 2021 from
12-2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Lottie Merle Ray Wilson
COMMERCE — Lottie Merle Ray Wilson, 98, Com
merce, passed away on Sunday, August 8, 2021.
Mrs. Wilson was bom in
the Brockton community in
Jackson County, a daugh
ter to the late William G.
Ray and the late Ruby Wil
kes Ray. Mrs. Wilson was a
graduate of the Martin Insti
tute in Jefferson, worked for
the WPA War Assets, and
after living in several cities
across the country, she and
her family returned to Jef
ferson in 1964 where she
worked for The Jackson Herald and the Selective Service.
Mrs. Wilson was also a member of the Jefferson First Unit
ed Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wilson
was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Wilson; two
brothers; and three sisters.
Survivors include her children, Roberta Pegueros and her
husband Albert, Las Cruces, New Mexico, William Wilson,
Arizona, and James Wilson and his wife Nancy, Commerce.
Funeral service: Friday, August 13, 2021 at 11 a.m. in the
chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Reverend Johnny
Ray officiating. The burial will follow in the Woodbine Cem
etery in Jefferson.
Family to receive friends: Thursday, August 12, 2021,
from 5-7 p.m. at Evans Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts
be made to the charity of one’s choice in Mrs. Lottie Wil
son’s name.

Roy Wood Jr.
Roy Wood Jr. passed away Monday, August 9, 2021.
He was bom in Madison County. He was the son of the
late Bessie Scarborough Wood and Roy Wood Sr. He was
preceded in death by his sisters, Patsy Wood Black and Jean
Wood Moon.
Mr. Wood graduated
from Madison County High
School in 1964. He was a
retired forklift mechanic.
He was an active mem
ber of Chapelwood Unit
ed Methodist Church in
Athens. He was a member
of Chapelwood’s United
Methodist Men and a mem
ber of the Trustees.
He was constantly help
ing everyone any time day
or night. He was a fun lov
ing man and made people
laugh.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Evelyn Spratlin
Wood; his daughter, Addie Wood Henderson; son-in-law.
Fain Henderson; and brother, Stewart Wood.
Family to receive friends: Friday, August 13, 2021 from
6-8 p.m. at Bernstein Funeral Home in Athens.
Funeral service: Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 2 p.m. at
Chapelwood United Methodist Church located on Janice
Drive in Athens. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial
Park Cemetery in Athens.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made
to Chapelwood United Methodist Church, 100 Janice Drive,
Athens, Ga. 30606.
