Lisa Michelle Bennett
Lisa Michelle Bennett. 44, passed away on Monday, Au
gust 16. 2021 from injuries sustained in a car accident on
Homer Rd. in Commerce.
Michelle lived in Com
merce her most of her life.
She attended school in the
Commerce School System
growing up. Michelle lived
with her daughter, Gracie
Bennett. She was a loving
mother, sister and friend.
Michelle is survived by
her children. Gracie Bennett,
Harley Vansloun and Chris
topher Anglin; brothers, Jer
emy Whitfield and Scotty
Whitfield; cousins, Marty
Gilreath and Sam Anderson;
and also loved by many more.

Connie Violet Blevins
HOMER — Connie Violet Blevins, 60, Homer, died Sunday,
August 22,2021 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Mrs. Blevins was bom in Homer to Hoyt Jackson of Homer
and the late Mary Sue Batchelor Jackson. She was a member
of Rehoboth Congregational Holiness Church and employed
with HomeGoods.
In addition to her father, Mrs. Blevins is survived by her hus
band, Wayne Edwin Blevins, Homer; children, Kelly Blevins,
Toccoa, and Andrew (Jessica) Blevins, Homer; sisters, Tere
sa Farmer, Homer, and Michelle Thacker, Gainesville; broth
ers, Ricky Jackson and Anthony Jackson, both of Homer; and
grandchildren, McKenzie Blevins and Taylor Blevins.
Funeral service: Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at 3 p.m. at
Rehoboth Congregational Holiness Church with the Rev. Mat
thew Mote officiating. Interment will follow in the church cem
etery.
Family to receive friends: Tuesday, August 24, 2021 from
5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Due to the recent increase in
COVID, the family has asked that mask and social distancing
is required for visitation and funeral services.

Carrol Dadisman
Jefferson native Carrol Dadisman, 87, the former publisher
of the Tallahassee Democrat in Florida and of newspapers in
Georgia, died from cancer Thursday, August 19 at his home
in Florida.
The Florida Hall of Fame member wrote his own detailed
obituary, complete with editor’s notes on possible details and
changes.
His journalism career in Georgia and Florida spanned an
era of great social change in the South and economic hard
times for print journalism. Dadisman was known as a strong
advocate of press freedoms and took an active interest in state
and local business and political events.
Dadisman was bom in Jefferson on May 24. 1934, and
graduated from Jefferson High School. He started college at
Oxford College in Oxford, Ga., a small campus that was the
original home of Emory University. He went to the Univer
sity of Georgia’s journalism school in 1953 and graduated in
1956. He was editor of The Red & Black, the student news
paper, and president of Blue Key.
In 2013, Dadisman published a coffee table book, “Dear
Old U-G-A,” a history of student life on the Athens campus
as reported by the Red & Black. Proceeds of the book went
to the Red & Black Foundation.
At UGA. he met Mildred Jean Sparks of Commerce and
they married in 1956. (He died at home on their 65th wed
ding anniversary.)
His first professional newspaper job was as a reporter for
the Augusta Chronicle that same year. He also served two
years in the Army, during the couple’s 10 years in Augusta,
and both of their children — son David and daughter Ellen
— were born there. They and his wife survive him, as do two
grandchildren.
Dadisman became editor of the Marietta Daily Journal in
1966, winning the Georgia Press Association’s general ex
cellence award three consecutive years, and moved to the
Knight Newspapers chain in 1972 as managing editor of the
afternoon Macon News. Two years later, he became execu
tive editor and vice president of Knight’s Ledger and Enquir
er in Columbus, Ga.
The Dadismans moved to Tallahassee in 1980. when he be
came general manager of the Democrat, then a Knight Ridder
newspaper. He was promoted to president and publisher the
following year.
He served as first president of the Florida A&M University
school of journalism board of visitors and was elected presi
dent of the Florida Press Association.

Annie Louise Dove
ATHENS —Annie Louise Dove, 86, Athens, passed away
on Sunday, August 22, 2021.
Bom on April 19, 1935, in Madison County, she was the
daughter of the late John and Annie Johnson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her
sisters, Lizzie Mae Payne and Mary Hardigree; as well as her
three brothers, Marion Johnson, Cecil Johnson and Bobby
Johnson.
Louise spent most of her life in East Athens as a homemak
er and was an avid walker and enjoyed gardening, yardwork
and sitting on her front porch. She had a strong faith in Christ
and read her Bible daily. Louise was married to her husband,
Walter Dove, for 63 years until his passing in 2018.
Survivors include her daughter, Teresa Kesler (Tommy);
granddaughter, Lauren Schlesinger (Matt); great-grandson,
Ryan Schlesinger; and her special fur baby, Molly.
Her family would like to thank the staff at Brookside in
Commerce for the love and care they provided for Louise
during her time there.
Funeral service: Wednes
day. August 25, 2021 at
1 p.m. in the chapel of Lord
and Stephens, East. Athens.
Interment will take place at
Evergreen Memorial Park.

Janice Cathryn Dudley
DANIELSVILLE — Janice Cathryn Dudley, 86.
Danielsville, passed away on Wednesday, August 18, 2021,
at her home.
Miss Dudley was bom in Danielsville on May 26, 1935,
daughter of the late Wiley Boyd Dudley and the late Allie
Carey Dudley. She attended Jones Chapel United Methodist
Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by
brothers, Wiley Thomas Dudley and Calvin Monroe Dudley;
and sister. Carolyn Pearson.
She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside service: Saturday, August 21,2021 at 10 a.m. in
the Jones Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family is at their respective homes.

Darren Michael Leone Sr.
AUBURN — Darren Michael Leone Sr.. 43, Auburn,
passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 14, 2021.
He was bom on March 31,
1978 in Geneva, New York.
He was the son of Steven Le
one and Donna Bergin.
Darren was bom and raised
in Geneva, New York. He was
a loving, hardworking and
caring father and husband.
He loved being outdoors rid
ing dirt bikes with his sons
and devoting himself to his
children and animals. He was
a great mentor and always
willing to give a helping hand
to whomever was in need. He
was a sincere and genuine person and will be forever loved
and missed by many.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Karen Leone; his four
children, Darren Jr., Alicia Morgan, Brandon Christopher
and Kayla Ann; brothers, Stevie and Tony Leone; and three
grandchildren, Keden. Casey and Curt.
A private funeral mass will be held. He will be laid to final
rest in serenity surrounded by whom he loved most at Memo
rial Park Cemetery on Friday August 20, 2021.

Bobby Lyle
WINDER — Bobby Lyle, 79, Winder, passed away Mon
day, August 16,2021 at his residence.
Bobby was bom January 19. 1942 in Winder. He was pre
deceased by his parents, Edwin “Toots” and Myrtle Clark
Lyle; and a brother, Jimmy Lyle.
Bobby was a 1961 graduate of Winder-Barrow High
School and was a retiree of the United States Postal Service
with 30 years of service. He was a member of New Pente
cost United Methodist Church and was a U. S. Army Veteran.
Bobby’s favorite hobby was antique farm tractors and he was
a member of the North Georgia Two Cylinder Club.
Surviving are wife of 54 years, Ann Gifford Lyle; children.
Marie and Richie Strickland and Larry and Jody Lyle; “son.”
Tracy Tomlin; grandchildren, Ricky Strickland and fiance,
Jesilyn Harritos, Leeanna Strickland, Amanda and Tyler
Payne. Jake and Tiffany Johnson. Hannah and Anthony Phil
lips and Megan and Kyle Fordham; great-grandchildren, Ava-
Grace McGarey, Harper Payne, Asher Payne, Ezra Payne,
Beckett Payne. Myles Johnson, Lorelei Phillips and Cedar
Phillips; sister-in-law. Betty Jean Lyle; nieces and husbands,
Wendy and Jimmy Chambers and Renee’ and Carey Cooper;

Loren Dean Roberts
Loren Dean Roberts, 82, husband of Karen Bond Roberts,
died Wednesday, August 18. 2021.
Born in Whitehall. Dean
was the son of the late Ber
nice Carol Roberts and Lollie
Mae Gunter Roberts. He re
tired from the U.S. Anny as
a Sergeant First Class after 23
years.
Following his retirement
from the Army he worked
for the University of Georgia
with the AAVIM Department.
He was a longtime member of
