HOMER — Mary Nell Davis Parks, 82, Homer, passed
away on Saturday, September 11,2021.
Mrs. Parks was bom in
Commerce, a daughter of the
late Willie Charles Davis and
the late Vinnie Ayers Davis.
Mrs. Parks was a member of
StonePath Church and was a
retired buyer for Baker and
Taylor. In addition to her par
ents, Mrs. Parks is preceded
in death by her husband Hen
ry Osborne Parks Jr.; broth
ers, Joe Buck Davis and Bil
ly Ayers; and sister. Frances
Ayers Childers.
Survivors include her
daughter, Helen Bingham and her husband the Rev. Winfred
Bingham, Maysville; son, Henry David Parks and his wife
Jody, Homer; five grandchildren, Neil Bingham and his wife
Beverly, Winder, Andy Bingham and his wife Jessica, Mays
ville. Ashlie Pelham and her Husband Matt, Jefferson, Garrett
Parks and his wife Danielle, Commerce, and Melissia Parks,
Fawrenceville; and 12 great-grandchildren also survive.

Mrs. Pittman was bom in
Birmingham, Alabama, the
daughter of the late John
Benjamin and Loretta Doran
Longo. Mrs. Pittman was a
homemaker and a member
of the Walnut Fork Baptist
Church. In addition to her
parents, Mrs. Pittman is pre
ceded by a brother, Charles
Wesley Longo.
Survivors include her hus
band of 59 years. Leon Mon
roe Pittman. Pendergrass;
sons, Christopher Brian Pitt

Trevor was a lucky poker
player and avid outdoors-
man. He enjoyed hunting,
spending time with family
and friends at hunting camps,
and fishing at Santee Cooper.
He loved his Braves, Georgia
Bulldawgs, Falcons and NA
SCAR.
Along with his parents, he
was preceded in death by two
of his children, son. Loyal
Price and daughter, Kellie Michelle Price: and granddaugh
ter, Skyler Cisneros.
Trevor is survived by his former wife, Helen Rebecca Walls
Price; four children, Amy Renee (Jimmy) Zamora, Tressa
(Paul) Farmer, Trena Leau Price and Trevor Jason Price; sib
lings. Maureen (Ronnie) Mullis, Evelyn Knox, Preston (Bar
bara) Price and Wanda (John) Gatherall; grandchildren. Cali
Farmer, Sabrina Zamora, and Anthony Zamora; great-grand
children, Bryli Milton, Kaylie Zamora, Jaci Rae Zamora,
Amber Zamora. Logan Ray Zamora, Kayla Cisneros and

MAYSVILLE — Lelia Redmon, 88, Maysville, passed

Bom on December 27,
1932 in Gillsville, Mrs. Red
mon was the daughter of the
late Verlin and Beulah Veal
Turpin. She was the widow
of Richard Redmon, a house
wife. and was preceded in
death by a daughter, Kathy
Jones.
Survivors include sons,
Donald Redmon. Commerce,
Ronnie Redmon. Lula. Rick
ey Redmon, Maysville, and
Mitchell Redmon, Maysville;
daughters, Pat Chatham. Jef

Tracey Anderson, Commerce; 16 grandchildren; and a large

Juanita Elder Sauls
WINDER — Juanita Elder Sauls, 82, Winder, passed away
peacefully on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at her resi
dence.
Mrs. Sauls retired from
Bramlett Elementary School
and was a member of
Bethabra Baptist Church.
Mrs. Sauls was bom De
cember 31, 1938 in Barrow
County to the late Arzy S.
and Lucille Dalton Elder. In
addition to her parents, she
is preceded in death by her
husband. Darrell Sauls; and
sister. Reba Elder Bunn.
Surviving are children,
Mike (Brenda) Sauls and
Denise (Kim) Edmonds,
Winder; and grandchild, Danielle Sauls, Thomson.

Steven Brian Smith
WINTERVILLE — Steven Brian Smith, 49, Winterville,
died on Friday, September 10, 2021.
Bom on March 23, 1972
to James Steven Smith and
Sherian Ann McClung
Smith, Brian grew up in
Gwinnett County before
meeting his wife and mov
ing to the Athens area in
2008. He worked in his fam
ily business of S&S Con
tractors and stepped up to
ran the business when his
father became disabled. Bri
an was kind and a free spirit,
a bright soul who cheered
up everyone wherever he
went. He was a natural mentor who thought of everyone else
ahead of himself, always helping and lifting up others. He
will be deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Chris Smith.
Brian is survived by his loving wife, Sherry Hill Smith;
his parents, James Steve Smith and Sherian Ann McClung
Smith; grandmother, Nell Smith; his brother, Andy Smith;
aunts and uncles, Randie (Fabaria) McClung, Bobby (Don
na) McClung, Deborah (Larry) Collins and Sammy (Ange
la) Smith; cousins, C.J. (Brittany) Smith, Alicia (Jeremy)
Singleton, Michael (Christie) McClung, Michelle Murphy,

Joseph “Joe” Harold Summerour
EATONTON — Joseph “Joe” Harold Summerour, 57. Eaton-
ton, and formerly of Winder, passed away on Tuesday, Septem
ber 7.2021 at his residence.
Mr. Summerour will be best
remembered by his friends and
family as a friendly man that
always had time to help other
people. He was very lightheart
ed and loved to laugh.
Mr. Summerour is preceded
in death by his father, Jimmy
Summerour.
Mr. Summerour is survived
by his mother, Brenda Sum
merour, Winder; son, Justin
(Kristen) Summerour. Buford;
sister, Cynthia Morris, Atlanta;
and soon-to-be-granddaughter,
Olivia Rose Summerour.

Ernestine “Rusti” Valenti
JEFFERSON — Ernestine “Rusti” Valenti, 89, Jefferson,
passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, September
8,2021.
Emestina Elisa Maria Bari-
le Swarbrick Valenti was an
only child, bom in Bronx, New
York, a daughter to the late Or-
este and Anita Soliano Barile.
Her love for animals started at
a very young age as she grew
up living across the street from
the Bronx Zoo. Mrs. Valenti
was of the Christian faith, a
graduate of Mother Cabrini
High School Of New York
City in 1950.
She then went on to open her
own dance studio in the Bronx
teaching many children her love for dance. In the early 1950s her
love for children was so strong she became a foster parent. She
continued to be well known by many as Aunt Rusti (both in N.J.
and Ga.) in her 50-year career as a childcare provider while being
an amazing, strong, loving, caring and selfless single mom of her
own six children.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her hus
band Anthony Valenti; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Survivors include her daughters, Helen and her husband Carl
Passera, New Jersey, Maryann and her husband Dennis Day,
Jefferson (whom Mrs. Valenti resided with), Catherine Ax, New
Jersey, and Carol Swarbrick, New Jersey; sons, Tom and his wife
Brenda Swarbrick, Auburn, and John and his wife Carol Swar
brick, Walnut Grove; three bonus children, Judy Goodridge, Flori
da, Katharine McGovern, Florida, and Roberta Eckhardt of North
Carolina; grandchildren, Catherine Day, Dennis and his wife Ra
chel Day, Lisa, Kristopher and Ryan Ax, Logan, Sam and Cath
erine Passera and Christopher Colfax; great-grandchildren, Avery
and Noah Day; cousin Marc Matranga; and Goddaughter, Donna
LaGrange.
Celebration of life: Saturday September 25, 2021 at 2 p.m. at
her home in Jefferson.

Charles William Wright Jr.
JEFFERSON — Charles William Wright Jr., 73, Jefferson,
passed away on Thursday, September 9,2021 at the VA Hospital
in Atlanta.
Mr. Wright was bom in Nor
folk, Va. to the late Charles
William Sr. and Thelma Irene
Perry Wright. Mr. Wright was
in construction and was a Ma
rine Corp veteran. In addition
to his parents, Mr. Wright was
also preceded in death by his
siblings, Benny Wayne Hewitt,
Faye Ewell and Joanne Feicks.
Mr. Wright is survived by
his sisters, Micki Patterson,
Bowling Green, Ken., Deborah
Laughlin, Dayton, Ohio, and
Brenda Rhees, Norfolk, Va.;
nieces, Sarah Black (Jason) and Crystal Wright (Berry Rodeffer);
“Paw Paw” to Joseph Black, Morgan Rodeffer, Krissy Black, Ayla
Rodeffer and Alex Acklin; loved one, Daniel Burton; a number of
nieces, nephews, great nieces and great-nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
