18 Barrow Foothills graduates recognized at regional ceremony

Eighteen Barrow Coun
ty Foothills students were
recognized at the Foot
hills Education Charter
High School regional
graduation, held on Aug.
26 in Monroe.
The Barrow County
graduates were: Abigail
Kay Marie Baucum, Jor
dan Grace Cagle, Alli
son Faye Carr, Morgan
Elizabeth Cribb, Tyrell
Naquan Dixon-Bishop,
Destiny Feigh Evans,
Johnmark Chukwuebu-
ka Eze, Victoria Elaine
Ramos Figueroa, Ethan
Layne Hendrickson, Jan-
nell Carmen Hildreth,
Taylor Frances Johnson,
James Edward Kelley IV,
Devin William Scott Park

Zykiria Wright and Abi
gail Lynn Worley.
Foothills graduates from
Clarke, Jackson, Madi
son, Morgan, Oglethorpe,
Social Circle and Walton
counties were also recog
nized at the regional grad
uation. Regional gradu
ations are held in August
and December each year.
Graduations are held at
each of the Foothills sites
in June of each year.
The August regional
graduation was hosted by
Walton Foothills.
Top honor graduate was
Asa Gray Angulo of Wal
ton Foothills, who plans
to enlist in the Army. He
said, “Our stories are all
different. Some of you
have faced incredible ob
stacles to get here today.
Others found Foothills to
be a great resource to help
us meet our goals more
quickly, especially after
the pandemic limited our
options. How we got here
is now in the rear-view
mirror and it is time to
start the next leg of our
journey. Opportunities are
out there and it requires us
to go out there and seize
them."
Foothills student
Ryleigh Elizabeth McMi-
chael gave the welcome
remarks, stating, “We sin

Superintendent Dr.
Sherrie Gibney-Sherman
presented diplomas to the
graduates. Lisa Simmons
led turning of tassels, and
Bill Ruma was the mas
ter of ceremonies for the
graduation.
All of the graduates
were given the opportuni
ty to come to the stage and
give any remarks on their
journey at Foothills. The
students offered thanks
to their families, as well
as special Foothills staff
members who helped
them be successful.
