Donald Alfred Brooks
MAYSVILLE — Donald Alfred Brooks, 61, Mays-
ville, entered into rest Tuesday, October 19, 2021.
Mr. Brooks was bom in
Winder, a son of the late
Loyd Mathew Brooks and
the late Annie Jane Lee
Brooks. Mr. Brooks was a
retired equipment operator
with Bount Construction
Company, was a member
of Tyrus Baptist Church
and enjoyed dirt track rac
ing at the Winder Speed
way.
In addition to his par
ents, Mr. Brooks is preced
ed by the mother of his children. Ellen Carlyle Brooks;
daughter, Jane Brooks; sisters, Lreddie Ruth Smith and
Nettie Carter; and brothers, Harrison Brooks and Don
ald “Duck” Brooks.
Survivors include his wife, Tracy Gary Brooks, Mays-
ville; son, Don Brooks (Jennifer Collins), Commerce;
daughter, Ellie Martin (Roger), Nicholson; seven step
children; two sisters, Betty Smith and Trances Skinner,
Jefferson; and 25 grandchildren.
Luneral service: Lriday, October 22, 2021 at 2 p.m.

Kenneth Lafayette Campbell
Kenneth Lafayette Campbell, 71, passed away on
Wednesday, October 20, 2021.
Mr. Campbell was the son of the late Kenneth and
Jonnie Harper Campbell; and was predeceased by his
sister, Karen.
Ken was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, moved
to Akron, Ohio and eventually settled in Winder with
his wife of 15 years, Mary. He loved his four daughters,
one step-son, five siblings, three grandchildren, extend
ed family and friends.
He was a dedicated man of God offering worship
through his singing. Ken was active in the church with
the choir and children’s ministries. Before retirement,
he was self-employed traveling to eight southeastern
states and made friends everywhere he went. He en
joyed collecting ail things “Campbell”, exploring his
Scottish heritage, playing the French horn, going on
day dips, and creating collegiate ornaments for craft
shows with Mary.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Gardner Campbell;
children, Tina Hess (Stefan), Katie Campbell, Kanie
Campbell, Kelly Campbell and Scott Odom; siblings,
Barb, Bob, Denise and Bev; grandchildren, Tori, Sidney
and Liam; and many extended family members who
knew and loved him.
Funeral service: Monday, October 25, 2021 at 2 p.m.
at Smith Memory Chapel with the burial at Barrow Me
morial Gardens.

Tony “T-Bone” Carpenter
WINDER — Tony “T-Bone” Carpenter, 67, Winder,
passed away on Sunday, October 20,2021.
Mr. Carpenter enjoyed
fishing, motorcycles and
music. He had an infec
tious personality where he
never met a stranger; he
was a devoted friend and
family man. Mr. Carpen
ter has lived in Winder for
the past 21 years. He also
served the United States
faithfully in the Army and
retired as a truck driv
er with Old Glory Truck
Lines.
Mr. Carpenter is preceded in death by his parents,
Glen and Mildred Taulbee Carpenter.
Mr. Carpenter is survived by his wife, Mrs. Carole
Carpenter, Winder; children, Jason Carpenter, Nash
ville, Tenn., and Kimberly Carpenter, Winder; siblings,
Phyllis Kutzera, West Carrollton, Ohio, and Gary Car
penter, Mt. Washington, Ken.; and grandchildren, Eliz
abeth, Ezekiel, Mercy, Alexis and Peter.
Funeral service: Sunday, October 24, 2021 at 6 p.m.
in the chapel of Carter Funeral Home. A graveside ser
vice with military honors will be held on Veteran’s Day,
Thursday, November 11, 2021 at 2 p.m. at the Georgia
National Cemetery in Canton.

Anita Brooks Cook
Anita Brooks Cook passed away peacefully on Sun
day, October 17, 2021, surrounded by her family.
Affectionately known as “Neet”, she was born to the
late Olga Stephens and Charles Clifford Brooks on Jan
uary 7, 1947 in Lexington.
“Neet” was a devoted wife, loving mother, business
owner and a wonderful homemaker. She was a remark
able artist but her first love was preparing meals for her
family and friends, most especially over the holidays
for family gatherings. She loved her family more than
anything and always put them first. She was a member
of Lexington Baptist Church for 60 years.
She is survived by her loving husband of 53 year's,
Bobby Cook; sons, Robert Cook, Watkinsville, and
Bradley Cook, Athens; brother, Chuck Brooks, Wat
kinsville; sister, Robbie Paine, Statham; nephews, Ja
son Paine (Clare), Mountain Brook, Ala., Justin Brooks
(Lee), Atlanta, and Cliff Brooks, Jasper.
A private family interment will be held.
A celebration of life will be held on January 7, 2022
to coincide with her birthday.

Meadow Snow Dean
Meadow Snow Dean, 19, beloved daughter, sister and
granddaughter, passed away unexpectedly on Friday,
October 22, 2021.
Born in Athens, she
was a daughter of Ronnie
Robert Dean II and Chr is
tine Tamburich Dean.
Meadow was employed
at Amazon and was at
tending the University of
North Georgia. She loved
playing basketball, skate
boarding and most im
portantly, spending time
with her sisters. Meadow
will be remembered for
her beautiful smile and
giving heart.
Survivors, in addition to her parents, include her sis
ters, Chastayne Dean and Syrena Dean; and her grand
mother, Kathy Stocum Dean.

Kathleen Mary (Mazzukelly) DeYoung
BRASELTON — Kathleen Mary (Mazzukelly)
DeYoung, 90, Braselton, passed away peacefully on
Saturday, October 16, 2021.
Kathleen was born Oc
tober 9, 1931 in Chica
go, Illinois. She was the
daughter of the late Carl
Mazzukelly and Mary
Carlivetti Mazzukelly.
Kathleen was preceded in
death by her much loved
husband and best friend,
James W. DeYoung.
As an avid reader, one
would often find her sit
ting down with a book in
hand. Her vast knowledge
on an array of topics made for lively (fun) conversa
tions. She was a very skilled seamstress and made many
of her daughters’ clothes as they were growing up. Knit
ting came second nature to her, leaving her family with
many beautiful pieces of her work.
But Kathleen was much more than a devoted wife
and mother. In 1973, Kathleen went to work for West
ern Auto at their corporate headquarters in Kansas City,
Mo. She started as a credit clerk in the wholesale de
partment and eventually became department manag
er. When she and her husband retired, they moved to
Florida. There they built their dream home and enjoyed
many wonderful year's traveling and spending time with
family and friends.
Kathleen is survived by her son, Scott (Jill) DeYoung,
Troy, N.C.; daughters, Sheryl (Fred) Granville, Shaw
nee, Kan., and Janice (Jim) Slaven, Braselton; five
grandchildren, Ryan (DeAnn) Livengood, Olathe,
Kan., Travis (Sarah) Livengood, Lenexa, Kan., Jenna
Slaven, Bethlehem, Jarod (Erin) Slaven, Braselton, and
Sarah McKnight (Shay Robinson), Jefferson Township,
Penn.; and four' beloved great-grandchildren.
Kathleen was and will continue to be deeply loved
and fondly remembered by many. We have lost a beau
tiful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, but
heaven has gained an angel. Her legacy will live on in
all of us. Rest in peace, Mom. We will miss you.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.

Berry Kevin Hattaway
DANIELSVILLE — Beriy Kevin Hattaway, 56,
Danielsville, passed away on Tuesday, September 14,
2021, at the Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center-
in Athens.
Mr. Hattaway was born
in Athens on January 29,
1965, son of Billy and
Jenrsha Pullian Hattaway
of Danielsville. He was
a food service technician
having worked at the Uni
versity of Georgia and was
of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his par
ents, he is survived by his
wife, Lisa Hart Hattaway;
daughters, Nicole Hatt
away and Nicole Bobo,
both of Danielsville; sister and brother-in-law, Vicki
and Bobby Hart, Danielsville; nieces and their spous
es, Brittney and Anthony Mathis, Hartwell, and Ashley
and Chris Rucker, Commerce; great-nieces and neph
ews, Kaydence Mathis, Hudson Mathis, Harper Rucker
and Korie Rucker; and great aunt-in-law, Shirley Ann
Purcell, Royston.

Anna Teresa Mix
CONYERS —Anna Teresa Hix, 62, Conyers, passed
away on Thursday, October 21, 2021.
Mrs. Hix was born in At
lanta, a daughter- to the late
Loy Wesley Ekard and the
late Lottie Lorene Queen
Ekard. Mrs. Hix was a
1977 graduate of Jefferson
High School in Jefferson.
Mrs. Hix was a member
of the Ebenezer United
Methodist Church in Co
nyers, where she sang in
the choir, performed solos
and was a branch manag
er for the Peoples Bank in
Conyers for 25 year's. The most important part of life
to her, was her family and grandchildren, to whom she
lovingly was known as “Mimi”.
Survivors include her husband, Greg Hix, Conyers;
daughter, Stephanie Smith and her husband Joey, Co
nyers; brothers, Jeff Ekar d and his wife Sally, Jefferson,
and Steve Ekard, Bishop; grandchildren, Sadie, Ava and
Madison; sister-in-law, Marsha Norris and her husband
Don Gill, Athens; niece, Jessica; nephews, Wes, Jason,
Clayton and Robert; and several cousins also survive.

Wayne C. Kilgore
Wayne C. Kilgore, 76, cherished husband, father,
grandfather, brother and friend passed away on Friday,
October 22,2021.
Bom in Gwinnett Coun
ty, he was the son of the
late Kermit William Kil
gore and Maggie Puckett
Kilgore. Wayne graduated
from Buford High School
and from the University of
Georgia. He also retired
from the University of
Georgia and was a Veteran
of the United States Army.
Wayne was co-founder
of Kilgore’s Kids which
is a non-profit organization, helping physically chal
lenged kids overcome and rejoice in God’s great out
doors. He enjoyed woodworking, leatherworking, hunt
ing, fishing; and most importantly, he was a Christian
man of faith who thrived on time spent with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by
his sister, Edith Shumate.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Diane Parker
Kilgore; two sons, Danny Kilgore (Tammy) and David
