Bruce Edward Allen
BRASELTON — Bruce Edward Allen, Braselton,
passed away peacefully at this home on Saturday, Octo
ber 16,2021, surrounded by his loving family.
He leaves behind a
close family and countless
friends who remember
him for his kindness and
compassion, quick wit and
endless determination.
Bruce was bom on Au
gust 18, 1944 in Evan
ston, Illinois, son of the
late Alfred and Margaret
(Stavoe) Allen. He was
blessed with a wonderful
childhood growing up in
both Long Island, New
York and Wilmington, Delaware. He was fortunate to
travel to many countries with his late father, who served
as the assistant director for the American Foundation
for the Blind.
Like any teenager looking for adventure far from
home, Bruce left Delaware and headed south to attend
Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
While there, he met his beloved wife of 55 year's, Con
nie J. (Green). Bruce and Connie married on February
12, 1966, and then moved to Moriistown, New Jersey
to start their life together. Bruce was proud to serve in
the Army National Guard for almost 10 year's. He was a
true patriot to his country and proudly flew the Ameri
can flag outside his home throughout his life.
Bruce had a successful career in chemical research
and sales with Allied Chemical and Georgia Pacific,
which ultimately led him to his home state of Georgia.
Georgia is where Bruce and Connie would raise their
two daughters.
Bruce is also survived by his loving, and as he would
often joke ‘over educated’ daughters, Jeanne Allen
Killingsworth (Clint), Pensacola, Florida, and Melo
dy Allen Glouton (Matt), Auburn. He was so proud of
his girls and their accomplishments that most strangers
would quickly learn of each daughter’s profession.
He is also survived by four wonderful grandchildren
whom he loved dearly, Briggs Matthew Glouton, El
lison Grace Glouton, Carter Wells Killingsworth and
Lawson Grey Killingsworth. He hilly loved spending
time with each of them and could be found almost any
weekend at a baseball game, lacrosse game or march
ing band conceit. Their beloved “Pops” was always the
biggest fan cheering them on.
While Bruce battled many years with cancer, his
tenacity and stamina for life overflowed as he fought
with grace and dignity to the very end. He never once
complained and faced every challenge head on with a
positive attitude. His outlook on life was something to
be admired.
Bruce was a passionate lover of the beach, the Geor
gia Bulldogs and his family. He was the peacekeeper in
the family of three strong-willed women who will love
him forever and miss him dearly. We know he is sitting
by the ocean in heaven.
A private memorial service will be held with family
at a later date.
The family ask that in lieu of flowers donations be
made in his name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hos
pital at www.stjude.org.
Memorial Park East Braselton Chapel, 5257 Highway
53, Braselton, Ga. 30517 is in charge of arrangements.

Jean Blevins Allen
Jean Blevins Allen, Athens, passed away on Wednes
day, October 13,2021.
Jean was married to George L. Allen for 68 year's, a
marriage that began after only three weeks of dating.
They had four children, six grandchildren and four
great-grandchildren.
Jean was a devoted and loving wife, mother, sister,
Granna and beloved child of God. She grew up in the
Cloud Springs community and graduated from Ross-
ville High School. Afterward, she married and began
a life with George that had her traveling around the
world. They raised their family on-the-move, building
a strong community of love and devotion among their
children and themselves.
She loved music and sang in choirs in all the churches
she affiliated with. Jean sang gospel music in church
with her parents and siblings from the time she had to
stand on a box to see over the pulpit. No doubt, she is
singing still.
Jean was a strong advocate of Piedmont Athens Re
gional Hospital, volunteering there for 25 years. She
also served the hospital’s Foundation and was instru
mental in the establishment of the Mastectomy Bou
tique there. She also spent her time in civic and church
groups, Bible studies and professional organizations —
always delighting in building relationships and never
without a conversation partner.
She was a vibrant, magnetic person who drew people
to her. She ‘adopted’ many whom she came in contact
with and they loved her like family. She was a believer
in God’s command that we love our neighbors in what
ever community she found herself, here and abroad.
Jean is preceded in death by her mother and father,
Henry and Pauline Blevins of Rossville; and brother,
Lonnie, also of Rossville.
She is survived by husband George LeBron Allen,
originally from Chattanooga; four children, Susan Al
len Booth (Joe), Michel LeBron Allen (Page Airheart),
Cynthia Allen Estill and David Lamar Allen (Heather);
six grandchildren, Whitney Booth Lockard, Caroline
Estill Ramsey, Mason Estill Kahiapo, Coleman Doug
las Allen, George William Allen and Clark David Allen;
and four great-grandchildren.
