Jug Tavern Festival returns Nov. 3-4
This year’s Jug Tavern
Festival promises to be
an unforgettable event
for the whole family,
with two days of enter
tainment, live music,
thrilling activities and
more.
The festival is set for
Friday, Nov. 3, and Sat
urday, Nov. 4, in down
town Winder.
Friday night, Nov. 3,
will mark the festival’s
grand kickoff with a
concert and a fun-filled
evening for everyone to
enjoy.
The festivities begin
at 5 p.m. with the carni
val, featuring rides and
games for all ages.
At 6 p.m., “Not Your
Average Band” will take
the stage, followed by
a performance of “Up
town Funk” at 7:30 p.m.

The excitement con
tinues on Saturday, Nov.
4, when the festival goes
into full swing. Starting
at noon and running until
9 p.m., the carnival will
once again be open as
well as a Touch-a-Truck
event, where kids and
adults alike can explore
various vehicles up close
from noon to 3 p.m. Also
from noon to 3 p.m. Sat
urday, a Paint-a-Wreck
activity will be available
as well as a car show.

‘SOUND THE ALARM’ TO
PROMOTE FIRE SAFETY
Volunteers from Georgia Red Cross and Winder Fire Department
walked around Winder neighborhoods last weekend helping to install
over 160 smoke detectors completely free of charge. This will affect 201
people in the event of a fire emergency. Winder residents who need as
sistance with smoke detectors can sign up online through Red Cross at:
volunteerconnection.redcross.org.

Food Bank of
Northeast Georgia kicks
off annual Hunger Bowl
The Food Bank of
Northeast Georgia is
hosting its 10th annual
Hunger Bowl competi
tion.
From Oct. 20-Nov.
3, teams will “Hunker
Down Against Hunger”
to raise funds and food
to support the Food
Bank. The Food Bank
of Northeast Georgia is
the only food bank serv
ing the 14-county region
extending from Oconee
and Athens-Clarke
Counties north to Rabun
and Towns Counties.
Teams can compete
within a variety of cate
gories, such as schools,
churches, businesses
and neighborhoods, to
see who can raise the
most money and food
during the two-week
competition.
The goal of this year’s
Hunger Bowl is to raise
$75,000. All donations
will go directly to pro
viding food to individ
uals experiencing food
insecurity across North
east Georgia. The Food
Bank supplies both
fresh and shelf-stable
foods through a variety
of meal programs and
food pantries through
partnerships with 200+
member nonprofits.

ery neighbor can have
