Winder NSDAR announces
Parade set for Dec. 9
The City of Winder is celebrating
Christmas with its 75th Annual Christ
mas Parade on Dec. 9 from 4-9 p.m.
This year’s event will feature Deck
the Paws pet parade, which kicks off
the Winder Christmas Parade. De
scribed as the pre-game show to the
main event, dogs who crave being the
center of attention will love this annu
al tradition which celebrates 75 years
in 2023. Participants receive delicious
treats and lots of Christmas cuddles.
Following the pet parade is the main
event featuring our community floats,
musical performances and more.
After the parade’s conclusion, join
Santa’s After Party at Jug Tavern Park
support for Wreaths Across America

WBCT DONATES TO PIEDMONT CASA

Winder-Barrow Community Theatre recently donated $500 to Piedmont CASA. This is an on
going practice by WBCT to donate a portion of the ticket sales to a local nonprofit group from
every one of their shows. Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) are community volun
teers who stand up and speak out to help abused and neglected children. CASA’s advocate for
these children right here in our community in Banks, Barrow and Jackson Counties. For more

The Barrow Area Rotary

Christmas.
The 2023 Community
Christmas program, formerly
known as Holiday Connection,
brings holiday cheer to thou
sands of children in Barrow
County thanks to the generos
ity of sponsors.
Community Christmas has
been serving Barrow County
families since 1999 and is a
collaborative effort involving
schools, churches, local busi
nesses, nonprofits and other
aid organizations within Bar-
row County.
The goal is to provide Christ
mas assistance to as many chil
dren as possible, ensuring that
genuine needs of families are
met without duplication.

Sunbury Chapter,
NSDAR, Winder, an
nounced that it has cho
sen to support Wreaths
Across America with
the participating loca
tion at Rose Hill Cem
etery. This is the third
year that Sunbury Chap
ter will participate in the
national program whose
mission is to remember
the fallen, honor those
who serve and teach the
next generation the val
ue of freedom.
The goal for Sunbury
Chapter is to support
efforts that help unify
the community in a pa
triotic commemoration
and celebrate freedom
by thanking the veter
ans laid to rest at Rose
Hill Cemetery with the
placement of a live, bal
sam veteran’s wreath.
The goal is to have 275
wreaths. The Sunbury
Chapter wants to ensure
that the individuals who
served to protect the
freedoms of our coun
try are never forgotten.
The ceremony will take
place Dec. 16 at noon.
The public is welcome
to attend. On this day
there will be more than
3,700 participating loca
tions around the country
with more than two mil
lion volunteers partici
pating.

quets, attached to the
wreath. Each bouquet
attached has a specific
value — belief, love,
strength, honesty hu
mility, ambitions, op
timism, concern pride,
hopes and dreams. This
company started honor
ing veterans by placing
wreaths on the graves
at Arlington National
Cemetery in Virginia. In
2007, with the help of
many volunteer groups,
Wreaths Across Ameri
ca was created.
