Macon, Gaj,’ June 21.—Six tour
ists, en route from Fort Lauderdale,
Fla,, to Nic sville, Ky., lost their
lives yesterdgy afternoon when Cen
tral of Georgja passenger train No.
10, from anta, crashed into an
automobile at the erossing at Lorane,
12 miles from Macon. .
The dead are believed to be:
J. P, Tay]br, father Nicholasville,
Ky.
Mrs. J. P. Taylor, mother, Nichol
asville, Ky.
Mrs. Howard Cox, daughter, Nichol
asville, Ky.
—Taylor, 'son of Mr. and Mrs.
—~Cox, baby daughter of Mrs.
Cox. »
¢ Unidentified man believed to be a
Taylor.
Identification of the victims had not
been completed last night, but one
of the women, just before she died,
gave those who rushed to her aid the
only tangiblé information upon which
identificatioh will be established.
This woman said ‘that she was Mrs.
Lovenia Cox; that her husband was
in a penitentiary. The woman was
delirious at the time and those who
heard her story paid little attention
to the penitentiary feature of her
story. ¢
All of the victims of the accident
five who were killed outright and
the one who was in a dying condition,
were brought to Macon on the pas
senger train that struck the automo
bile. 1 .
] Identified By Letters.
§ Mrs. Cox was taken to the Ogle
th})rpe Private Infirmary in Harry
Lamis’ private ambulance, where she
died at 6:30 o’clock. The accident
occurred at 4:25 o’clock. The train
was running late and was making ap
prorimately 40 to 45 miles an hour,
according to information obtained by
the Telegraph, apparentaly in an ef
fort to reach Macon on time. ‘
The train was in charge of Conduc
tor D. P. Huff and Engineer O. T.
Lavender. g
In Macon the bodies were taken to
the undertaking establishment of
L. H. Burghard, where efforts were
made to identify;them.
In possession of the members of
the party were letters, many of them
two years old, and on which appear
ed the only wames that may aid in
the identification of the victims.
These ndmes were: Mrs. Lovenia
'on, R. F. D. No. 5, care Lee Taylor,
Nicholasville, Ky.; J. P. Taylor, whose
address on the letter was Fort Lau
derdale, Fla.; L. A. Taylor, Mounds
ville, W. Va.; Howard Cox, 818 Jef
ferson aveune; Moundsville, W. Va.;
and a posteard hearing no address but
bearing the name of Miss Lovenia
Taylor.
Car Crushed Beneath Engine
There were three men and two wo
men and a baby girl only a few
months old and a dog in the car at
the time of the accident.
The car was an Okland and bore a
Florida license.
The engineer when he arrived here
was visibly affected by the accident.
He could hardly tell a coherent story
of what happened. He said that the
party of tourists was coming from
the direction of Macon, traveling
northward and loomed up on the track :

STOPPING WIFE AND
ELOPING FARM HAND
Louisville, Ky., June 20.—Coakley
Howe, whose wife ran away with his
farm hand, raced a train from New
Haven, Ky., to Louisville, in his auto
mobile last night and beat the train.
He was disarmed by the police, but
at his suggestion they met the train
for him and arrested the farm hand,
William Bray, and Mrs. Irene Howe.
“I prayed four hours to find out
whether it would be ‘a sin 'to kill
you” Howe told Bray, “and I found
out that it wouldn’t. I intended 'to
send ten bullets into your body, but
the police wouldn’t let me. I promise
you that if ever I see you again, I will
put you out of existence. I suggest
that you join-the army or navy and
stay away—for life.”
Bray sought refuge in a cell for
the night and then departed from
Kentucky, while Howe and his wife
went back to New Haven today.

according to automobilists.
The five persons who were instant
ly killed and the dyiy; woman were
placed aboard the train and brought
to this city. The train was delayed
at Lorane, because first aid to the
wounded woman was given. The de
molished automobile, which had been
dragged for a hundred yards, had to
be removed from under the wheels of
the train before it could continue.
