REAL “PEPTIMISM" PREVAILS
'AT EPWORTH LEAGUE CON.

M‘ League progresses, more and
more rightful and unugual addres

evening Rev. J. A. 'Harmon, of Ma
con , secretary < of the educational
movement in South Georgia, was
heard upen the negro quastion.
There were among the more im
portant of his statements, based on
Paul’s address to the Athenians
which includes “and God hath made
of one blood all nationg of men that
dwell on the face of the earth.”
“The negro in some respects is
like the children of Israel, He was
taken into slavery, but like them he
will be led to find his best. The
majority of Southern slaves, about
600,000 in number, were set free he
fore the Civil War by Southern mas

against social and economic injus
tice. Nothing stire his prejuduce co
much as lynching and it is a tribute
to both races that there has not
been more of these incidents,
W'hcthcr or not he has suffered in
justice you yourselves may judge.
“The solution of this problem be

Rev. Mr. Harmon touched on the
negro’s religion, vivid imagination,
