CAMILLA, Ga., Aug. 13.—Prices
paid for tobacco here today are the
highest. reported”for any market in
the state up to date. b. N. Cochran
sold one lot of tobacco for $1 per
pound and several other lots for
76c per pound. Burson and Bell
sold one lot of 670 pounds at an av
erage of §oc, while Timothy Catch
ings, negro farmer, sold about 1,
000 pounds at an average of forty
cents. Fifty-five thousand pounds
were sold and all parties were
pleased with prices received. The
grade of tobacco being sold is much
higher today than it was last week,
Tobacco was on the floor from four
of five adjoining cpunties. Enthusi
asm is running high and it is freely
predicted that there will be five
thousand acres planted next year.

ment houses, soft drinks, Pullmans,
radio stations and candy, our lfi

MRS. W, H. ADKINS DEAD
VIENNA, Aug. 14.—Lingering
only two weeks after a stroke of
paralysis, Mrs, Adkins, at the age
of 70 years, passed quietly away
about nine o’clock Monday morning,
Mrs. Adkins, who was formerly Miss
Laura Clements, was born and reut
ed near Unadilla. She was a member
of the Smyrna Baptist church. a
faithful wife and mother and was
known to all people of her neighhor
hood as a gentle and kindhearted
