house 164 to 9,
Representative Earreit of Stephens
spoke against the bill, stating that
he was oprosed to itics and counties
engaging in business. | ‘
The necessary vote to ‘ pass the
measure was 138. The house is com
posed of 207 members and two-thirs
was necessary. : ‘

headed by Chairman J. J. Williams

Peanut Rates Ordered
Down On Peanuts From
South To Big Markets
FINDING ANNOUNCED TODAY
RESULT OF INVESTICATION
GOING ON FOR 18 MONTHS.
WASHINGTON, D. C., August 5.--
Revision of all rates on classified
shipments iy the territories consti
tuting the stmutheastern quarter of
the United States was ordered today
by the Interstatc Commerce Com--
‘mission. A scale of rates to govern
classified freight shij'ments into and
out of the south also was created.
Rates on peanuts’ moving from
southeastern territory to Chicago,
Milwaukee, Cleveland and other
northern cities were held by the
commission to be unreasonably high.
Revisio;p of class rates as ordered
resulted f;bm an investigation which
the commission has had in progl‘essi
eighteen months. The purpose of the}
‘new schcedule is to irop out unjus
titied rate differnces throughout the
'territm'y and incidental increases and
reductions will he accomplished in
‘various parts of the south.

that of the robber who shot and kill.l
