FOR D. A. R. OFFICERS.
- Mrs. T. E Fletcher entertained at
her home on Tuesday at a most brilli
ant reception in honor of the new state
officers of the D A. R. and the worthy
“%lected officers of the Fort Early chap
ter. . |
. Despite the ihclemency of the weath
er more than a hundred guests called
during the afternoon and found upon
entering a veritable bower of roses. ‘
Rain was falling without, but roses!
seemed to have been falling within’,l
-and a more beautiful picture couldl
scarcely be imagined. {
The pink shaded chandeliers cast a
delicate glow over the scene and en
‘hanced the beauty of the Dorothy Per«
‘kins roses used in profusion in the three
adjoining rooms. The mantel in each
Toom was a Solid bank and vines were
twined ‘around the pietures and hung
in graceful garlands.
A pink canopy of roses from which
was suspended a bell, graced the en
trance to the dining room where the'
“exquisitely apprinted table was the ad
miration of ail present. . ’
The center decoration was a large
bowl of feathery poppies. From thel
_chandelier was: suspended white tulle
which was held in place at each corner
by vases of pink roses and maiden hair
.Aern. Upon the table. were -placed

mints and salted armonds.
Mrs. Thos. Nesbitt received thel
guests upon entering. In the receiv

Mrs. J. J. Williams ushered the
guests into the music room, where
punch was served by Mrs. Edgari
Fletcher and Mrs. Orbie Bazemore.

ano, and Miss Alene Kennedy, with
her lovely voice, charmed the visitors
with most exquisite musie throughout
the afternoon. '
In the dining room delicious pink
amd white ice cream with angel food

PROM PARTY FOR SENIOR CLASS.
Mrs. Louis Miller was hostess at
her home last evening to the members
‘of the Senior class of the O’Neal High
sehool, complimentary to her sister,
Miss Bessie Miller, who is a senior.
The parlor, dining room and living
room were thrown together and quan
tities of shasta daisies and quantities

Atlanta, Ma'y 20.—Announcement
was made here today that the national
executive committee, finance commit
tee and state presidents of the Amer
tican Cotton Association will meet in
Atlanta at the national headquarters
of the association June 1-3.
Plans for carrying out the policies
of the cotton association formulated 2t
the recent annual eonvention in:Mont
‘comery will be considered at the At
lanta meeting. .
} It is the purpose of ihe adsoeiation,
~according to a statement made by J. S.
Wannamaker, of St Matthews, 8. C,
pesident of the organization, to set
asidc .a fund of $500,000 for the es
tabiishment of an organization for the
farmors along the lines of the United
States Chamber of Commerece.

al policy as a means of increasing pre
duction to combat the high cost of
loving, adoption of new and more eco
nomic methods of marketing the cot
ton eron ,formation of mutual fire and
marine insurance companies and other

The association is now conducting
an active campaign throughout _'ihe’- cot
ton belt for the construction of ware
houses to adequately house the 1920
crop. The officials also are endeavor
ing to have every warehouse in the
| cotton belt become a government bon
lded warehouse. ‘They are being given
| support in this movement by both the
{government and the State depart
' ments.
