Orlando, Tla—“While T was bring
ing up my family 1 depended a great
deal upon Dr. Pierce's Favorite Pre
scription to keep me in good health, It
is a fine tonic and nervine and always
gave me renewed strength, It not only
helped me in my young womanhood but
it has been a great comfort in middle
life. Dr. Pierce’s Favorite Prescrip
tion is the tonic and nervine that I
would recommend to every woman
whether a young mother, or at any

cook over a brisk fire until the sugar]
is dissolved. Do not stir. After the,
candy is boiling ‘cover the saucepan
and cook for three minutes, Con
tinue to cook until the temperature'
equals 238 degrees Fahrenheidt. !
Beat at this stage with a spatula un-'
til the mass is ereamy. Don’t be dis-i
discouraged if the beating seems to;
take a long time, for maple syrup,
plus corn syrup does not crystallize‘
rapidly. It makes a better, creamierl
fondant because of this. !
With the closer attention given toil
diet at the present time the ques-f
tion of how much water to drink !
and when, is of great interest. The'
question of whether to drink it at
mealtime puzzles many. The answerl
is, yves. It is good to drink at meal-!
time if you do not wash the food
down with it. Digestion is aided}
when water is properly used at meal-;
time. A drink of cold water just he-‘
fore a meal is a stimulant for the"
flow of digestive juices.
Eight glasses of water is _general
ly stated as the amount one should
drink during the day. However, a
part of this may be substituted by
2dults in tea or coffee, and the child]
who is drinking a quart of milk a!
day will not require more than foutl
glasses of water. If a glass of waterl
is taken at each meal in addition tol
other liquids, one glass on arising, a
glass during morning, one in after- '
the morndg, one during the after-l
noon and another at night. the di-l
gestive juices will be sufficiently di-i
luted and the digestive tract will be!
cleansed. l

FIREMEN FIND TRIO
SLAIN IN RECTORY
WILKES-BARRE, Pa., April 9—
(F)—Firemen answering an alarm at
the rectory of the Russian Orthodox
church here early today found the
bodies of the pastor, the Rev. Dr
Alexander H. Mikolin, 52, his wife
and their 14-,\'o&l'-91(1 son, Alexan--
der, with bullet wounds in their
heads.
Although the authorities were un
able to ascertain who committee the
crimes, the first belief was that the
priest, who had 7recently returned
from a sanitarium where he was re
covering from a nervous breakdown
shot his wife and his son. and then
