Indiana, on a murder charge, hadl bui $8,700 available for his dcl'enso,l it became known today. Of this) amount $4,000 was contributed by: friends and assistants of Chapman| in New York City, after his convic-l tion here. The $8,700 and more is' declared to have been spent by his, counsel in the preparation of the defensé and in expenses after his conviction .in April of last year. ! Attorney Joseph M. Freedman said that $l,OOO had been received by his firm as counsel fees, and a similar amount went to Frederick J.
