THE CORDELE DISPATCH
FLIGHT DELAYED
+
BY LS ANGELES
LAKEHURST, N. J. April 13—
The United States dirigible Los An
geles, whose patched gas bags lvnd‘
to the fear she was unsafe for the
air, had not left her hangar at Lako-?
hurst carly tonight. ‘
Captain George W. Steele, Jr.,
mandant of the station, had planncd
to moor the giant dirigible to the
mast in Lakehurst field this after.
noon and attempt a short flight to
moerrow. But tonight Licutenant
Commander Charles B. Rosendahl,
cxecutive officer of the Los Angeles,
said:
“We are still waiting for weather
maps before we decide on taking
out the ship. We may have to wait
for the midnight maps.”
Theé first intimation that the Los
Angeles might not leave her hangar
‘ame late this afternoon when Cap
tain Steele said “storms gathering in
the south” might cause a change in
plans.
“There is a low pressure area in
_he south” Steele explained. “Be
fore we take the Los Angeles from
the hangar we weaht to determine
whether that area, will move out to
sea below Cape Hatteras with its
wind and thunderstorms or whether
it will come farther north.
“Until a forecast is made our
going out of the hangar will remain
uncertain. Likewise our flying to--
morrow.’
