JCYABLE. |
The good old days when most ev
ery one was young and gay, were re
ealled yesterday when the Faubell
Entertainers gave an hour and g
half program at the Redpath Chnu--'
tauqua. The entertainers, three inl
number, headed by Mr. Cladence
aubell, appeared in costume of yore
and proceeded to give the audience
one-of the most enjoyable entertain
ments rendered in this city in many
years, ‘
The program consisted of songs,’
recitations and piano numbers, after’
a general entertainment in which a
nated, Mr. Faubel took the stage
and proceeded to give a number of
number of the old favorite predomi
impersonations, among which hisi
portrayal of an old soldier and an,
elder who undertook to supply the!
rulnit of his church, were inimitable
and brought the house down with a
venegeance. In the last half of the
entertainment, all members of the
company combined their resourceful
ness with their talents as entertain-!
ers and gave a faithful portrayal of
an old strawberry sociable in which
the village gossip. the woman who
thought she ecould sing, the 'gawky‘
country youth and the giggling girl
had conspicuous parts. Old and young
alike immensely enjoved the remin
iscences of yesterdays. l
In the evening, the large tont‘

THE CORDELY. DISPATCH
.sauce” direct from a notable run in
New York, and presented by a New
York cast of six players. The story
concerned a young lady, brought up
fin 2 home where father and mother
were contifiually nagging each other
who had reached the point whera she
must decide between two young men,
whom she felt she loved cqually. 80-|
coming engaged to the rich, hand--
some Rollo Jenkins, she learned too
late that she preferred the rollicking
good natured, lazy 'bill -McAlister,
whose laziness and idealism were by
words in the community. Around!
this situation the story revolved,
and the three acts told the story’ of
how the situation yas met and the
tangle finally untangled. ;
The story abounded with witti
ciem of a refined sort, convulsing
the audience with laughter and pro
viding enjoyment ‘throughout the
evening. The philosophy of the lika- i
ble Bill, who sought happiness above |
all else, contrasted with the material. ‘
matter-of-fact views of Rollo and the |
older men of the party presented a
telling argument for more romance.
and a hetter understanding of life,
rarticularly in the attitude between |
man and wife. The whole play which
primarily intended for entertain
ment, taught strong lesson the appli
cation of “which would remove much
of the domestic infelicity so preva
lent these days. l
