’.Aviator Lands Plane In

ELMHURST, April 27-—(P)—
Caught in a tailspin of a thousand
feet by a sudden storm, George Dau
skirch, commercial pilot of East Elm
hurst, suceeded in bringing his sea--‘
rlane to land on Ditmar’s boulevard
here.
Dauskirch, with two mechanics,
were trying out the plane for the
Curtiss Company. After the tailspin,
Dauskirch was able to right his ma
chine, but was so close to earth that.
he was forced into landing. i
The boulevard 200 feet wide was
the only available landing space and
there was considerable motor traf
{ic on it. Narrowly missing a house,
the plane came to rest acainst a
tree, smashing its wings and splinter
ing its hull. None of the occupan®
was injured. '

Commander John Rodgers, U. S. N.
who commanded naval planes in an
attempted non-stop flight from Cali
fornia to Honolulu starting August
31, 1925, landed here at 4:20 o’clock
this afternoon making a fast trip
from Washington, D. C., enroute to’
Little Rock, Arakansas, where he
says he will witness the internatinnall
balloon races April 29, and 30. He is|
flying a Curtiss bombing plane and

Referendum Thru Colleges
PRINCETON, N. J., April 27—
America’s college students will be
asked to participate in a national pro
hibition referendum, according to
Lewis Fox, president of the National
Student federation and a senior at
Princeton University.
Fox said today that the result of
the referendum would be the major
topic at the federation’s convention
at the University of Michigan in Sep
tember.
Ballots will be sent to “every col
lege student in the United States.”
They will be asked these questions:
1. Do you favor prohibition in its
present form? ‘ 1
Do you favor repeal of the laws
relating to prohibition?
3. Do you favor a change in the
prohibition laws to allow the sale of
light wines and beer?
4. Why is your decision as so
stated?
