A good number of the Senior Ep-|
worth Leaguers went to Ashburn
Thursday evening and put on the
program for the Ashburn League. ‘
Mies Annic Mae Brooks lead the
Dcvqtiénal, and the subject for the
evening was “Character.” Interest--|
ing talks were given by Miss Mamiel
Milner, Miss Bettilou McKenzie
Miss Buford Taylor and Mr. Howard |

Hawaiian Salad
Chop or shred one-ha'f pineapple
The canned will do quite acceptatly
although the {rezh is preferabie*
and if the canned is used, add a
pinch of =alt to overcome the extra
sweetness, Stir two tablespoonsful of
gelatine into 1-4 cup cold water until
disselved. Add to the pineapple and
two cups of water. (If canned pine
apple is vsed, a half cup of the juice
may be substituted for a half-cup
of water. Place in the ice box and
when almost jelled, add two table
spoonsful of grated cheese. Serve
with a dash of mayonnaize,

Cruszh the juice from three ripe
tomatoes. Seazon with pepper and:
salt and drop in a sprig or two
of parsley, and il your taste dictates.
2 teaspoonful of finely chopped
onion, Soak two tablesploonsful of
- otine in 1-4 cup of cold water for
five minutez, Stir until gelatine is
disrelved, Add it to the tcmato
juice and niace upon ice. The salad
jeil may be served in a nest of let
tuen lcaves with French or mayon
n2iso dreczing, and 'in that case it
is well to pour it into molds to cool
or yeppers may be filled with it and
a darh of mayonnaise over the top
Served so, with toasted crackers, it
is a dclicicus salad course or an
cvening’s refreshment when supple
mented with a demi-tasse of fairly
strong coffee. ‘
