DENIES RUM CHARGE

~Emphatic denial that he was in any
way connected with an aileged rum
smuggling ring at Seattle, was made
here today by Lieutenant Command
er James H, Strong, naval aviation
officer. Commander Strong is re--
ported to have been indicted by a
federal grand jury atSeattle for al
leged violation of the prohibition

Seven hours after their arrest to--
dzy for throwing their 11-months-old

correction to serve a year sentence.

through a street drain leading to a

order to commit it to a home.

when the ship docked here this morn
ing, It was:

and drove one mile from a standing
start in two directions at an average

He also drove a car with an en

Thomas last month was credited
