the South Georgia Union Singing Con
vention would meet in Cordele June
18-19-20 and presented the matter of
providing a large tabernacle for this
convention. Between ten and fifteen
thousand people attend this gathering
during the three day session. For
the past three years this convention
has increased in attendance almost
seventy-five pereent and it has been
predicted that it will in the years to
come give as much publicity to Cor
dele as the Annual Peach Festival has
to Fort Valley. The Director's unani
mously pledged their support to keep
the convention an annual event in
Cordele. Messrs R. R Harris, E. A.
Vinson, and Roam Sheppard were ap
pointed a committee to work with a
like committee fromr the Kiwanis Club
in making this a certainty for Cordele.
The directors unanimously passed a
resolution requesting the Parks and
Playgrounds JCommittee to transfler
‘Harmon Field to the Women's Civic
Club to direct the equiping of this
field for a playground for ¢he children.
Harmon Field, formerly known ‘as
Williams Park, was secured ‘through
a loan to the Crisp County Boarg of
Trade from the Harmon Foundation of
‘New York City some months ago, and
a copper marker has been sent by
the Harmon Foundation for the dedi
cation of the Field to play. The Di
rectors are desirous of giving their
assistance in every way possible to
equip Harmon Field. ;
Messrs J. E. English and W. Q.
Gleaton were appointed Advisory
Committee to the Secretary for the
incoming month.
