WARS ON LYNCHINGS
ST. PETERSBURG, [lla., June 24
~(P)—Aroused by the recent epi--
demic of lynchings in Florida, the
state chamber of commerce hag gone
on record with a declaration that this
condition must not continue and har
plodged to the governor its approva’
of his vigorcus efforts to secure ef
fective prosecution in the recent La
Delle lynching case and its willing:
nees to cooperate to the fullest in the
maintenance of law and order. The
statement, which was hdopted with-.
out a dissenting vote at the quarter
ly directors’ mecting as foilows:
“The Florida State Chamber of
Commerce has heard with concern
that already this year therc have
been four recorded lynchings ir
this state and that men and women
white and Dblack, have been tak{or
frem the proteetion of the law and
brutally maimed by masked gangs.
“Fecling that this condition must
not continue if Florida is to presper
as shd deservesz, the state chamber
of commeree hereby respectfully
thanks the governor for his quiek
and cffective action in assuring o
thorough prosecution of these per
gons \{hu regently lynched a man ‘ir
