of David Lloyd George, who is not
very popular among the “die hards”
of the liberal party and Winston
~Churchill, who went over to the con
gorvatives, have disay peared from the
walls of the National Liberal club in
London.
No scuggestion of theft has been
intimated and the portraits are said
to repose now in the storage cellar
of the club. Only oblong blotches
on the walls mark the places where
they used to hang. '
The two pictures watched over the
smoking room and dining room of
the club for years, but apparently
some members could not enjoy their
foor or tobacco under the gaze of
their erstwhile nolitical allies. Only

defended his position as parliamen

coupe in which were traveling Mr
and Mrs, A, C. Martin, of Jackson
ville, Fla.,, and which Mrs. Martin
was driving, turned turtle two miles
south of Abbeville yesterday when o
wasp attacked the driver, causing her

Cab Company, operating nearly 700
taxicabs, went into the hands of a
receiver today under an involuntary
‘petition in bankruptey alleging that
the company had liabilities of more
than $1,500,000 and asseas of, about
$1,000,000.
An incident of the receivershir
was the disclosure of a letter urging
members of the Ku Klux Klan tc
‘buy stock in the company and sup
port it, The letter dated at Indian%
apolis, Fabruary 1, 1923, purported
to have been signed by E. E. Clark
grand “kligrepp” o* the klan, said
that the taxicab company was “con
trolled by loyal klansmen.”
