LOVELY LITTLE PARTY
AT WENONA
Little Evelyn Cofer gave a party
Saturday afternoon at her home in
Wenona from 3 to 6 o’clock in hon
or of little Sara and Christine Bfacl
of Tampa, Fla., who are visiting for
the summer months,
The home was beautifully decorat
ed with gorgeous cut flowers.
Many games were enjoyed by the
litle folks. After the games* they
were served an ice cream course.
Those assisting Mrs. J, M. Cofer
mother of the litle hostess, were her
daughters, Mrs. C. G. Black of Tam
pa, FFla., and Miss Ruth Cofer.

The little folks plyed many games
in the house which was attarctively
decorated with quantities of pink
and white crepe myrtle. They were
then invited into the dining room
which was also decorated with pink
and white flowers and with a birth
day cake holdinz five tiny pink can
dles.
The favors -vere balloons. The
little honoree received many pretty
gifts from her litle guests who num
bered about twenty-five.
Mrs. Sapp was assisted with the
games and serving by Misses Cecil
Williams, Catherine Wear, and Mrs
M. S. Griffen.

HOSTESS AT BIRTHDAY
PARTY SATURDAY :
An event of much importance to
the little folks was the large and
beautiful birthday party given on
Saturday by Mrs. M. F. Davis hon
oring the sixth Lirthday of her at
tractive little daughter, Annie Ruth
A pink and white color scheme
was effectively vsed in all the deco
rations in living room, dining room
and reception hall. The dining
room was especially attractive with
the beautiful table containing the
cake with its six tiny pink candles
with streamers” overhead of pink
and white crepe paper which extend
ed to the four corners of the table
Delicious cream and cake was serv
ed in here to the happy little guests
who numbered about fifty.
They each brought the little hon
oree a pretty gift. The favors were
pink erepe bags tied with pink rib
bon and contained pink and white
candies,
PICNIC SWIMMING
PARTY HERE TUESDAY
With Mrs. H. C. Wood and Mrs
A. M. Wilson as chaperones, a party
of forty Pinehurst folk came here
yesterday for a pienie and swim
ming party at Williams Swiming
Pool.
Honor guests were Mr. and Mrs
T. C. Holt, of Orlando, MMiss Nan
Smith of Brunswick, and Miss Cath
arine Davis of Valdosta, all guests
ofMiss Marie Wood.
The party had a most pleasant af
ternoon and evening here and the
local swimminz pool was highly
praised as an ideal place for such an
occasion. . :

Gay, which was solemnized on July
12th at 9 p. m. at the Methodist
parsonage, Rev. J, B. Johnstone per
forming the ceremony,
Mrs. Gay is the oldest daughter of
Elder and Mrs. Mims and is one of
Cordele’s most charming young la
dies. |
Mr. Gay is the son of Mr, and Mrs.
progressive young business man and
at present holding aresponsible po
sition with the feaboard Air Line.
Immediately after the ceremony
Mr. and Mrs. Gay left for Atlanta
and other points on their wedding
tour, : |
After they return they will be at
home with Mr, end Mrs. J. H. Mar
tin on Twelfth Avenue East. They
will have the best wishes of a host‘
of friendse on all sides. |

the producer of “Merry Wives,” is an
actress of ability who played Lady
Teazle with Cyril Maude in his pro
duction of “School for Scandal” in
Australia and also hag acted in Ameri
ca.
She made an extensive tour of the
United States with Dame Nellie Melba
which included visits to Mary Pick
ford, C‘harlie Chaplin and other film
stars in California.
PARIS.—Mary Pickford is a strong
‘advocate of bobbed hair—but not for
herself.
“It is so much easier for a woman
to have short hair,”” she said, “there
are no hairpins always jamming into
‘the head and the question of shampoo
ing is much simplified. Now I have
to give up one entire day a week to
my shampoo.
“But the public knows me by my
long hair and I could never screen
with bobbed hair for my appearance
would not be the same, However, if
1 ever retire from the movies I cer
tainly shall have my hair bobbed and
