SONG OF THE YEARS
The house is still and the dreamer
sleeps
Where the night wind creeps:
The night wind ¢inging soft and low
Of the years that come and the
years that go,
With their hopes and fears
And the light of tears— ‘
The sad, thée beautiful years. - |
What ‘are the dreams when sleep is
| ‘a sigh \
For the years gene by?
When the lips that you loved—that
knew: only yvour kiss—
You miss as the red o’ the rose you
would migs—-
‘When "they leave you to weep
Where the dark shadows creep
And deep calls to deep?
Sleep not and dream not where
dark shadows throng—
Sing life’s sweet song!
Leave the dim valleys of sorrows and:
sighs;
Sing of the hills as they climb to the
.skies; uit ’
Sing even as God wills, 4
Of the music that thrills '
With the joy of the hills! |
