Governor Fields today pardoned Miss
Martha Bates, of Letcher county,
who slapped the Rev. Arlie Brown,
Baptist preacher, after he criticiscd

Miss Bates a sray of execution of
the unsatisfied portion of the 40-dzy
jail sentence given her in Letcher
