KIVER CAVE.IN CARRIES
AWAY COAL COMPANY
M&EMPHIS, Tenn,, July 26-—(#)—
A cave-in on the east bank of the
Mizsissippi river here this afternoon
carried away wvractically all of the
property of the West Kentucky Coal
company. The lamage was estimated
at $250,000. At 5 o’clock the bank
was still erumbling, carrying switch
fracks owned by the St. Louis-San
Francisco rallroad in the river.

DIES ON SUNDAY
MILDRED EVANS, 2 YEARS OLD,
SUCCUMBS TO INJURIES RE.

ATLANTA, ta., July 26—Mildred
Evans, 2-year-old fiug‘n‘.or of Mr.
and Mrs. C. L. Evans, of 412 Bank
head avenue, who was struck by an
automobile as she was being carried
across the street in front of her
home in her mother’s armgs Saturday
night, died at 8 o‘clock Sunday
moraing at Grady hospital.
The automobile was driven by
W. C. Sailors of 210 Woodward ave
nue, 2nd up to an early hour Sunday
night no case had been made against
him,
Mrs. Evans received a broken arm
and other injuries in the accident.
The child was taken to Grady hospit
al, but at fir:t" physicians believed
¢he was not cadly hurt. Later Mil
dred became unconscious and was
taken to the hospital again. Physi
cians then anrounced her life was
only a matter of a few hours.
Funeral services will he held this
afterncon at 1 o’clock at the home
and the body will be taken to New
Hominy church «emetery, Besides her
parents, the gi; lis survived by a twin

AUTOMOBILE LEAVES ROAD TO
PLUNGE ONTO TRACKS OF B. &
0. RAILROAD AT CLEVELAND,
CLEVELAND, Ohio, July 25.—(AP)
-~ Five persons were killed and an
otlier probably fatally injured when
their automobile went over a 20-foot
einbankment here early today.
The victims are Cievelanders, They
are:
Miss Lennie McGee, 31; Esther
may, 17; Elmer H. Treichel, 35; Boyd
‘Wagner, 24, and Louise Fuester, 26,
Joseph Lisy, 30, was unconscious
when the wreckage and bhodies were
discovered. He was taken to a hos
pital, where doctors said hope for his
recovery was slight.

The automobile left the road 25
