~ KILLED IN FLORIDA
NATIVE OF CRiSP COUNTY IS
SLAIN BY NIGHT ASSASSIN.

(#)—J. R. Bedgood, 30, promincnt
lawyer of Eustis, was shot at 19:30
o'clock Saturday night while turn
ing his automobile around on a
pighway about a mile from Eustis
and died 45 minutes later in the of
fice of Dr. M. M. Hammun, Kus
tis, according to information se
cured from the Eustis Lake Region.
The man, according to the Region
dispateh, had been to the home of a
young woman. The couple had left
and returned wnen Bedgood retara
ing to his car. received the shot
from a passing automobile.
The load hit the man in the face
and in the stomach, he evidenily
bending over to dodge the missives,
it was stated. His revolver was
found on the seat beside him, un
fired.

Cordele this afternoon and the fire
department called to extinguisn a
blaze which had been started in his
baggage attached to the side of the
car. Slight damage was caused. e
had emptied his pipe down the 11ad
and he judged that this had caused
the fire.
