WASHINGTON, October 1-—(#)~—
The Para, or Brazillian, rubber tree,
the principal source of the world’s
rubber guyply, can be grown in
Florida, it has been discovered by
! the Department of Agriculture, and
- while plantations like those of the
i Last Indies could not be operated
i’ for lack of cheap labor, different
systems of production are possible.
r
- Recently a small Hevea or Para
rubber tree was found growing at
Palm Beach, where it had stood in
the open for nearly 25 years under
unfavorable conditions. Its survival
makes it plain, the department said
today, that Hevea is not to be class
ed among the most delicate ultra
tropical type of plants.
