OF 1812 SUCCUMBS
AMERICUS, Ga, October 4——Mrs,
Carolyn Clapton, 88, one of gix pen
gioners of the War of 1812 died at
her home near Americus ot .9
o'clock this morning, Mrs. Clapton,
who had lived in Sumter county dur
ing many years, was one of the best
known residents of this section. She
had heen ill only a week, the result
of a fell,
Mrs, Clapton, in whose home
James B, Little, an aged Confed
erate veteran, had an apartment,
was awakened during the night of
September 27 by a struggle in his
yoon. Securing a quilt, which sne
alanned to throw over Little, whom
ghe supposed was cold, Mrs, Clap
to started to his room. She was upon
a back porch when she tripped upon
the quiit and igaoff upon the
ground, a distance of several feet.
Her hip was fractured, but Mrs,
the third generations are noted pro
ducers and authors, One of their
couzing writes music, Anotaer
stages reviews, There are others yet
to become known who are learning
the theories and the practice of
their chosen arts and who will aldd
honer to the great name.

Clapton was not rendered uncon
scious by the fall. During many
hours she lay upon the ground and
beeame chilled, suffering intense
pain. Little was found dead in bed
the next morning.
