E. T. MCSWAIN FAVORS
- CRISP POWER SUPPLY
E. T. McSwain says that he hears
folks speak faverably o the Crisp
tounty hydro-etecirie project. “Farm
ers can’t pay acbts ana live unless
they can sell what they raise for
more than it cots to raise it. That's
certain. Cotton ‘actories are de
claring big dividands, Why cn.n't wo
have paying factories tou, But it
takes power to vun a factory, We've
got to have the power first,” says

SCHOOLS ACQUIRE. FARMS,
Washington, D, C.—An issue of The
‘Southern Field just published by the
Development Service of Southern
Railway System, is devoted to the
agricultural and herticultural upbuild
ing of the South.
Its most important features are an
editorial and an address by Mr. Ro
land Turner, General Agricultural
Agent, Southern Kaflway System, di
recting attention to the opportunity
to put graduates of Southern agricul
tural schoolg and colleges on farms.
At present a very small proportion
of these tralned young men becom.
dirt farmers for the simple reason
that the great majority of them lack
sufficient money to enable them to
take over a farm and run it in the
‘'way that they have been taught
farming ought to be done. It is sug
gested in the Field that organizations
‘or individuals can do real construc
tive work in their communities by
preparing groups of attractive farms
and offering t} sm to these splendidly
equipped young men on terms that will
enable them to pay out and own un
encumbered farms
This issue also iuclud-s articles on
