§ Lake Lure development at Chimney Rock, N, C, is a pleasure resort.
.’flle dam here pictured is 108 fect high and cost nine hundred thousand
dollars. The Crisp power dam will be thirty feet high, and about as long
as the Lake Lure dam. The power company agents here opposing the
Crisp county development say that curs will cost over three million dollars.
‘They say that to frighten our farmer friends who are afraid of taxes. They
say that to make us belicve we do not know what we are doing. 1t is all
camouflage,
The Lake Lure dam was constructed for a pleasure resort, but some
‘)ody suggseted that a power development might be had at the same time
the large lake was made. So the machinery was bought and one of the

Crisp county has scenred legislation required to permit the people in this county to build and
operate a fourteen thousand horse-power hydro eleetric plant on Flint River opposite Cordele and at the
November Zud clection the people of Georgia are asked to approve this legislation which is in the form
of an amendment to the constitution of Georgia.

The need of industrial power here to develop this section as other sections of the southeast are
developing, is widely appavent. We have a splendid power site which nature has not given to other see
tions around us. -We need your support. Please give this Crisp county power amendment a friendly
start carly on the morning of November 2nd at your ballot box and we will return you for your favor,
a rapid and steady development of our community, adding wealth through the use of an abundant sup

want it and we believe wost of the tax payers are of the same mind. We favor it and are working for it
because we want the added wealth and growth in substantial population which will be needed to make
ours awealthy and prosperous county in all seasons. We inelude our farmers in our aims when we say
the abundant power supply will be a diveet benefit in a large way (o all classes. Nothing in any form
of taxes will ever unmake or shake the value of this power supply. We need not fear rvesults.” They

an automatic control—the latest development in the creation of electric
energy for use in industries.

bany plant, That cost beiween five and gix hundred thousand dollars when
first built. I tlater sold for a million and then fifteen hundred thousand
dollars. Now it is part of a thirty million dollar power trust that argues

EFFORT TO SEE THE COMPLETION OF THE GREAT
HYDRO-ELECTRIC POWER PLANT. L
On November the 2nd, we will vote to complete the greatest
single project ever attempted by Cordele and Crisp County.
The general assembly has voted its approval of the project, if
we ourselves want it. November 2nd we will be given an oppor
tunity to clear the way without further legislation or delay.
