TWO.CARS OF CORN
SHIPPED BY FARMERS
Ot TOOMBS COUNTY
! .
LYONS, / Ga., November 1--
Toombs county farmers shipped two
cars of corn last week éoopcrutively
through buyers seccured through the
county z\gefit_and expect to ship sev
cral more this week.
Prices are hardly as high this’
year to begin with as they werel ast
year but the prices rececived so far
Lave been fairly \‘éatisiactory. All of
the corn shipped so far has been on
the ear,
Its the ordinary mind used rather
than the brilliant one abused that
bfings worth-while things to pass.
MR. PATE REPLIES
(Ceontinued From Page 2)
man of county Tax Equalizers for
{welve consecutive years and which
position I new. hold. X' merely bring
(Lis to the attention of these men as
ovidence cf tny need of iumble ser
vice in a public eapacity and as a rec
ord of my activities for the publie
good. So far as I know I have never
civen one of these firms or indi
viduals any provoeation of any kind
and know of no reason Why they
should single me out and to hold me
up to pukblie seorn. In an carlier part
of this communication I said that I
had some ambitibn in life and one of
the chiefest of these was both my
public and private life might he
such that my immediate ffimily, aq'
well as a wide circle of rclati:csi
might never have to apologize for or,
regret, when Lo’ this advertisemcnt;
appears on the suppertable of my |
own home and on the dinner table
of my children there to confront and
humiliate, ! |
It is, my purpose to preserve ‘.h?ni
letter and also the advertisement
and just as the names appear on the I
advertisement so that when I :-.m';
gone and my children and grand-!
children perchance have their family
rcunion these pages may be read
and these names preserved to show
the depravity of weak human nature
and mans inhumanity to man. 1
I trust none whose name appears
in this advertisement will attempt to
apologize or explain to me why they
inzerted this paid advertisement or
that they had done so under a mis
taken impression as the matter is‘
{far too serious for them to havc‘
lcaned their names to traducing m,v‘j
reputation, besides it would embar
raszs me to have them offer opo]o;.’,‘y|
or to claim a mistake had been made. ‘
Tt would be cowardly and I shall de
“ire to sce this committee have thc!
courage to stand together and hav
ing once said the “horse was 16
hands high” stick to it.
This communication lis written
without prejudice or bhias and in an
cntire freedom frem bitterness or
censure contained in these lines. Noi
electicn on earth is to me of the
value of even one of my sincerc!
friends. ‘
g Very Respectiully,
